interesting...particularly the passing of the gift, and its unique transmutations.
what are your thoughts on astrological ages leo? (or astrology itself for that matter). i have found the 'age of aquarius' to be a potent psychological symbol for a new phase in jumanity's collective consciousness ('christ consciousness), which i believe we are seeing unfold (though barely) before our eyes, particularly with the advent of the internet.
Oh, yes, as something of a 'child' of the Sixties... well, more like a young man of the Sixties (one of John Kennedy's bright and optimistic Peace Corps Volunteers, watching the Beatles on Ed Sullivan and all of that... I was with the Age of Aquarius when they first started speaking fo the Age of Aquarius.
Yes, I think something will soon happen. Destruction and Regeneration has been the topic of the Marian Apparitions for the last 3 hundred years, and the Message has only gotten more urgent in the more recent Apparitions (Fatima Portugal, Garabundal Spain, Our Lady of All Nations Amsterdam, Rosa Mystica Italy, Medjugorje Hersegovina). Of course everybody knows and is chattering about how the Mayan Calendar is to run out in the year 2012. My God, but the Mayan Calendar cycles in spans of more than 12 thousand years or something incredable like that, and it is to start again in just 6 years. That is one heck of mile stone.
The Marian Apparitions at Garabundal Spain and at Medjugorje Hersegovina both involved appearances to young Seers, teenagers at the time. And the impression was implicit that these young people would see the End Events of Prophecy in their life times. The Garabandal Seers are now in their fifties and the Medjugorje Seers are now coming into their forties.
And it is all quite tenuous at best. Capitalist laissez faire economic and social organizations proved their vulnerablity with first the Great Depression, and all of the other Recessions, and equity collapses we have seen. The Stock Markets take wide swings over what can almost be insignificant... the American Exchange lost 30% of its value for 18 months when it lost just a few buidlings and an insignificant fraction of its population to an attack that did not even use a formal weapon, the so-called 9-11 Attack. What would happen to their Stock Market if there ever were a real catastrophe. The entire World is propped up on the Dollar, but when one looks at it, the only thing securing the value of the Dollar is the attractiveness of American Realestate Purchases, Equity Values, Food Stuffs. America no longer manufactures... well, airplanes, but now Air Bus is doing a fine job of makeing America's Boeing Company redundant. Somehow America has talked OPEC into adopting the US Dollar as the only medium for exchange for Petroleum. but what if that were to change. If any nation were free to use some other currency for Oil, and if it were suddenly widely perceived that there was no growing interest in either American Real Estate, Equities, or if a drought or something were to prevent an American Grain Harvest, why the bottom would drop out from under the Dollar. America's position in the World would be all at once nullified, except for the most blatant aspects of purely military coersion. The Competitive Nature of Capitalism would soon become apparent -- that Capitalism does not so much enrich us all as set us all against each other, so that there will be a small cluster of Winners and a wide swath of Losers. The Losers will of course opt out of a System which works against them, and we will see the rise of Planned Socialist Economies. And since we are now in the Computer Age, it might have become far easier to successfully 'plan' an Economy. Not that the Socialist Economies did such a bad job prior to Computerization -- remembering that the Capitalist Nations had to work so hard against them in order to undermine them sufficiently so as to accuse them of some inherent inefficiency. But we should remember that Socialism Defeated Hitler at Stalingrad while Capitalism was still lulling about in London waiting for Hitler to finish off the Jews.
Somehow I think that Capitalism has struck up its tent around Petroleum. One wonders why America, the nation that begat Nuclear Energy, why it abandoned completely the use of Nuclear Energy. Now, even whey the propaganda claims to look for 'alternative energy sources', it is all simply ignored that Nuclear Energy is virtually FREE. And that may be the problem. Every economy that adopts the wide use of Nuclear Energy becomes that much more independent of Capitalism's Petroleum Spider Web.... they become careless of the value of the Dollar and lose their concern for the priority of supporting the high value of the Dollar for the sake of their necessary Petroleum purchases.
Look at how America has made France, Iran, Korea into enemies, and the chief cause may be just that they are trying to implement workable plans for Energy Self Sufficiency through Nuclear Power. America keeps the World in Chains -- the Chains of Oil Dependency.
The flaw in that Plan is that America has very little of that Petroleum in its own backyard. Only Saudi Arabia remains formly in American Control, but we already know that many Saudis are unhappy with the arrangement. As Iran comes on line with Nuclear Energy to satisfy its own concerns, it may decide to strategically cut off its oil from the World Markets, to intentionally screw Capitalism and America. Iraq may remain in Civil War, and eventually come out as an Anti-Capitalist Regime (Saddam was actually America's Best Friend, which the Elder Bush realized, leaving Hussein in power, but the Younger and Dumber Bush tossed out Hussein the 20th Century Strong Man who was quite willing to be a Capitalist and had been an Agent for American Interests, only simply wanting some Reward for all his troubles (Iraq fought an 8 year war against America's enemy Iran, and wasn't it simply right that Bush should have allowed Iraq something for all of the losses it suffered in its behalf... and Bush, who had been the Head of the CIA probably did actually promise Hussein 'something', since, as soon as Bush had surprisingly become President, Hussein immediately submitted his bid to collect on their past bargain)... so a Modern and Amenable Hussein is tossed out only to be replaced with a chaotic regime of Islamic Fanatics of the 8th Century... big improvement there). Now, with Saudia Arabia the only nation that can pump petroleum, and this when the demand in both China and India are multiplying the sum Global needs for Energy... well, how long can the reserves last. Some experts have complained that the published Oil Reserves of Saudi Arabia may be just as reliable as the Prospectives had been for Enron or for World Com. We know the Oil Reserves are finite. We know that World Capitalism is now pillored up on Oil Dependencies. It simply cannot last.
2012 maybe a bit soon. But it would not take much to wreck the tenuous and delicate Machinery of World Capitalism.
