Personally, I usually just hop into bed. I am a fan of DILDing. I only WILD occasionally. Anyway, read up on the tutorial section and determine which one is good for you. Everyone's different. Be patient with yourself. You might not get an LD in your first week, perhaps not even in your first month. Keep trying and you will be fine.

Just before I go to bed, I read some stuff on lucid dreaming, just to get it in my mind. I have found if I don't do this, I dont have any dreams, but I am new at this. Also, I think to myself "I will remember my dreams." and I repeat it over and over. This helps me a lot, personally.

I find that if I just hop into bed, I will almost never have a lucid dream, and my dream recall will usually suck. First, I take a few minutes, and relax by clearing my mind, relieving the tenstions and stresses from the day. That way, I'm not distracted by other things running through my mind. Then, I start repeating my intentions in my mind, some along the lines of "I will dream lucidly and I will remember my dreams." Though far from 100% succesful, it works reasonably well when I really commit to it and can completely clear my mind.
Well life is short, so love the one ya' got, 'cause you might get run over or you might get shot.

This is also what I do before bed. I try to calm my mind of the day's thoughts, and lay down and read Exploring the World of Lucid Dreaming by Stephen LaBerge. It helps me relax and get into the dreaming frame of mind.

I've also done the "I will wake up after each dream and remember it" chant while falling asleep, which has also worked for me.

      Good luck!

Basically, what I do is attempt WILD, fail and sometimes have a random lucid dream. Most of the time, my dream recall is excellent, although only if I have written down the night before's dream in my Dream Journal.

I strongly suggest the WILD technique, if thats the sort of responce you are looking for. DILD and MILD are usually very unreliable, and WILD works but is tricky. There is no Holy Grail - Get used to hearing that phrase on LDing websites...

I always make sure my journal is close at hand before I go to sleep... Thats it really. I have my alarm set to wake me up after about 5-6 hours of sleep so I can use WBTB. When I wake up I use MILD, this usually results in a vivid and sometimes lucid dream. Give it a try.

I'd say Wake Back to Bed is the way to go.

set an alarm to wake you up 5-6 hours after sleep, then stay up:

      a) stay up for a short time (5-10 minutes) and move (Walk around in your house, maybe even a walk outside) then go back to sleep, thinking that you will lucid dream.

      or

      B) stay up for a longer time (30-60 minutes) and read your journal or articles about lucid dreaming. Then go back to bed and as you fall asleep, keep thinking that you will realize that you are dreaming, once you dream...

hi, i use the same technique - though i didnt know it was a WILD until I started reading about lucid dreaming. It works really well for me. I almost always have a WILD upon falling asleep, and often another during my sleep cycle. Even if it doesnt work, its fairly meditative and could spring your subconscious into action, so it may be worth a try!
