need help with WILD, plz =D

Last night.. I fell asleep around 8:30 and woke up at about 2:30... I came downstairs and read about lucid dreaming for about a half hour, then I went back upstairs and tried it. I got to the state were you feel paralized and then I got scared because I couldn't feel my body so I stopped. Then I tried it and again I got to the paralized part but I either got too excited or I sensed it coming so I thought to much about it and ruined it. Can anyone help me get past the paralization part of WILD? - I tried NOT getting excited but I think the fact that I knew I was almost their made me not concentrate. Any information would be great... Thanks

The best advice I can give you is to train yourself to not be excited. A good way of doing this is to think of WILD as the most boring thing the world could ever devise.

Is it your first WILD? Then thats some damn' good progress... just do it more often, and you'll be the master.

haha yeah that was my first attempt at WILD'ing.. but even if i do get the hang of it.. its gonna suck having to get up after 5-6 hours of sleep everynight just to stay up for an hour so you can LD... i tried MILD'ing but i found that RC make me look crazy and i already have good dream recall, no point in having to write it down.. SOO what im hoping is that i can eventually be good enough so that i can just WILD without having to sleep for 5 hours first..?

Yesterday night I tried WILD. I had significant progress. I felt onset of WILD, and had very weird sensation in my body. I focused on the idea of riding a bike. As soon as I'll visualized it, I could feel that I'm drifting in sleep. However I had real problem with concentration - something just interrupted my thoughts every second.
But when I saw myself riding a bike, I felt progress.

      Nocturnal,

Wow, you are really, really, REALLY close, and I think you know that. I remember being very excited when I would reach that point in a WILD. It's just like anything else; when you ride a rollercoaster for the first time, it's exciting as heck, but after riding it a hundred times, and knowing what to expect, it doesn't quite affect you the same way. Not to say that WILDing ever "gets old," but as you do it more and more, you won't get so excited that you ruin it. The paralysis is always kind of funky, and is my first tip that the show is starting. Then, out of the blackness, images will slowly come into view....last time it was an old-fashioned crank telephone! As I lay there seeing this image come into view, I thought, "it's cool and all, but why the hell would I think of THAT image??"

It sounds to me like you are home-free on this thing. If you can get this far, it's just a matter of time before you chill out enough to complete it. Good going! Email me if you have any other questions.

Its important to stay calm during these 'sensations' such as sleep paralysis...or hypnagogic imagery.

      Matt,

Sounds like you probably fell asleep. That's the tricky part - to stay conscious when the sounds start. It's tough to stay balanced on the fence, not falling off one way and losing consciousness, but also not getting too excited that you prevent yourself from falling into a dream.
If you got that far though, you'll have lots of luck with WILDing in the future. Keep at it....it's amazing!
