      My Dream Classification System

Well, I've been thinking about this for a while, and it just occurred to me that I could *gasp* tell it to other dreamers!

The scale goes up in increasing lucidity / real-ness. :sweat1: If that is a word...

      1. Blah - dream : Ok, ok, so the title isn't very interesting, but these dreams aren't. The story may be distorted and hard to remember, or the colors won't be very vivid (or there's no color at all). Any type of dream can be interpreted as this if you have bad dream recall.

      2. Dream : Well, just a dream. It can range from a simple story, or everyday life, or an engrossing tale. The difference between this and a Real Dream (see below) is feeling, although emotions can linger after Dreams.

      3. Real Dreams (RD) : An RD is no different from a real Dream except that you actually feel it. You may have strong emotions (such as in real life), which can stay long after you wake up. But for a dream to be a true RD you need to actually touch it, to be able to smell, taste, feel the air rushing against your face. These dreams are exhilarating and fun - unless they are nightmares.

      4. Low - level LD : This can be a short, but good LD, or a medium, unexiting LD.

      5. High-level LD : This ranges from long, unexiting LDs to Medium, good LDs and up.

Does this make any sense? Do I need to add some things? Or is it all right?

It is not so accurate to "classify" dreams linearly as you have. Dreaming has been observed to be capricious in nature, changing undetectably and greatly influenced by whim. So a reliable classification of characteristics would be unrealistic, especially at such a small linear level that is proposed.

Such classification may be possible for inexperienced aspiring oneironauts, though unfortunately I am not so sure I understand its purpose or benefit.

Hmm...you're right! Maybe I should add a little 'in-betweener' flexibility. I just found those to be my boundaries - most of my dreams fall right into them.

Everyone has their own dream and LD classification system - whatever works best for you is great!
