      Is there a way???

I have had previous lucid dreams but not intentionally. I have also had many previous experiences with SP and being aware of what was going on in my waking world.

I have looked over the tutorials and I don't think I am someone who will be able to do the go to sleep for a few hours and wake up thing. I know myself and I do not wake easily by alarm clocks. But I am really good at relaxation. Is the a way to enter a lucid dream w/o going to sleep for a few hours beforehand? I saw it mentioned in one post about WILD but I didn't get an understanding of the tech.

I did sort of wonder the same thing when I was starting out. Really you should look through some of the tutorials. VILD, which I recently learned in the last topic I posted was a good one. Of course MILD is good. I'll link you to the tutorials

VILD is visualizing a scenario before you go to sleep that you can recognize to help you become lucid
MILD is sort of a self hypnosis, but you don't need to tell yourself to wake up after every dream period. Just tell yourself "I will remember my dreams, I will remember my dreams"over and over, and hopefully youll remember some.

You only need wake up before attempting to enter a Lucid Dream if you're going to try one of a few induction methods, noteably WILD. For good old Dream-Induced-Lucid-Dreams, DILDs, you don't need to do that at all. Most people are more successfull with DILDs than WILDs, too, so it's a double plus.

You've no doubt seen information on Reality Checks in the forum, or at least heard references to it. If not, there's plenty in the Tutorials forum. Reality Checks (RCs) are the easiest to practice form of triggering an LD. It also happens to be the one that new dreamers have the most success with. Just check to see if you're dreaming four or more times per day (Try to see through closed eyelids, look at a digital clock to see if the time makes sense, etc), and eventually you'll start doing the same in dreams. DILDs don't need the intro five hours of sleep, they can happen ANY time you happen to be dreaming. There's no preparation, just be sure to keep working on dream recall (keep a Dream Journal), and practice frequent RCs and you'll more likely than not have a LD in just a month or so, if not in just a few weeks.

MILDs are also a very good technique, as was mentioned before, and are much easier and practical for newer dreamers than WILDs are, especially for someone who has difficulty waking up to alarm clocks.

You sound like a good candidate for HILD to me. If you can relax yourself easily and well, calling up HI (hypnagogic imagery) should come easily (if not with practice). Check out a tutorial or two on HILDs.

In this setting you don't really have to get up in the middle of the night and go back to sleep. You can just pick the right time and give it a go.

      Good luck!
