      The Super Memory effect

Has anyone else noticed that you can remember things to the tiniest detail in an LD?

Example: I became lucid, and flew through darkness to my room just out of curiousity. Somehow, I ended up in the room of our old house (where I hadn't been for at least nine years). I noticed objects, and things, and a whole flood of memories came back I hadn't even known existed; different stories, different events.

Experimenting with it a few nights after, I went to my pre-school, where I hadn't been...
15 - 16 years? Anyhow, I saw the rooms and the teachers. When I woke up, I checked up on an old photo-album (which I hadn't looked at in years, too.) Every person and room was practically identical to its dream counterpart!

Note: I used the old technique looking at my hands and touching things, then falling upside down in darkness to increase realism. Without it, I find the scenarios usually weird and disjointed, and the memory becomes blurred with dream.

But at deeper levels, it's pretty clear. Anyone else experienced a similar thing?

I always find it so amazing how our minds remember so much incredible detail dreams. I think people with photographic memories are just able to access that part of their brain that we all do when we dreams for detail... Maby someone can figure out how we can tap into our stored detailed visualizations when awake.

Odds are, the more we do it in sleep, the easier it would become in reality, seeing as we get used to accessing those parts of our mind usually closed...

      Re: The Super Memory effect

I am not sure about remembering. I almost forgot about a lucid dream I had the other day. Then there have been non-lucids where I remember clearly the dream. For me it can go either way. But with lucids I tend to remember a little more.

We already can, with hypnosis. They're really just stored in your subconscious mind, which is what you access with hypnosis (as well as dreaming, obviously.) Of course, you wouldn't be able to visually see the memories under hypnosis as you would with dreaming, but you are still awake and accessing the memories at the same time. So fascinating.

      About that memory part.

Isn't it the same as hearing a song you heard somewhere in your head? (but not just a melody or something..I mean the whole score...everything every "detail", every note, every music instrument...)? This happens to me all the time and I can't figure out why it is like this.

Back to my LDs. I haven't tried to go back to the past like this yet (I will try it) but I know that all my dreams from places I know are really detailed. It happened to me that in a dream I saw something written (a signiture and date) on a poster and I thought in my head why it is there. Several days later I went to that place and looked closely on that poster and I saw exactly what I saw in the dream.

One day I tried to remember some details about one place I've been to with my friends and I couldn't remember anything. In my dreams when I went back to that place and saw it as it exactly was. wierd huh? (I went there to confirm it..and now that dream stays in my head and I can draw that place....not:e that even if I try to draw a place I know well...like my room for example there are things I mess up or I don't even remember that they are there. but after experiences like this - the fact that I checked what I saw in the dream was as it exists in the reality - I can draw the place to the last detail.)
