      Sub-concsious Superiority

I have been able to lucid dream all my life, lucid dream every night and have pretty much complete control over my dreams. I can also go into a lucid-dream state almost at will. Through this i have uncovered something very interesting.

"anything you are good at, your sub-concsious is better at"

what does this mean? well, if you are an experienced lucid dreamer you have no doubt noticed that in your dreams you can do things you could never dream of doing in real life, like imagine detailed landcapes, create ambient music or even compose poetry.

Why does this matter? Well, its possible to transfer some of that into the real world.

The first time i experienced this was when i was younger. I was playing a racing video-game. I was stuck on this one level that i couldn't beat. i was playing for a long time so that i slowly started to fade out. When i reached awareness again I was at a screen that told me i had just won. I had no recolection of playing that race. It seems that while my consiousness was elsewhere, my sub-concsious contineued playing the game and was dam good at it.

I havn't been able to replicate it to such an extent since but i can still use it to a certain extent.

for example, in the game DDR (dance dance revolution) i can enter a sort of trance (by simply staring at the screen, listening to the music and blanking out my mind) where my body moves to hit the arrow without me actually registering that there is an arrow there to hit. Thus i can do better at it then i ever could before.

also, i work with flash. To plan a game or movie i simply lay down on my bed and lucid dream about it. Then i pop in and out of awareness to jot things down. I come up with some pretty impressive stuff. The unfortunate thing is, i suck at drawing and animating so it never gets completed. =P

Can anyone else relate to this? I'm interested in any techniques that could get developed to help me use this.

Perhaps, in derams, you are as good at something as you want to be? That's my theory, anyway... If you want to do something in a dream, why would you want to do it badly?

I think you may have mised the point. I was talking about how during a dream you might have music playing in the backround that you've never heard before and that you'd never be able to compose or having a outstanding poem or speech that occurs in your dream that you just improv out of nowhere when if you tried writing something while awake you couldn't even get close to how good it was if you spent days on it.

I think he has a point. I would be willing to say that the conscious is a subset of the subconscious. You know, "anything you can do, it can do better; it can do anything better than you". Maybe thinking of your subconscious so highly might be a reason why you have so many silly LDs.

For at least a while now, I have felt that the purpose of dreams is to reintegrate our subconscious and our conscious. Further, that the subconscious is good, and has quarantined the conscious or bad half. It seems like you are much further along than most, arby, and you are approaching complete reintegration.

In your opinion, does this sound plausible?

i'm not really sure about concsiousness and sub-concsiousness but i took the time to actually read through everythin on the man page and might have an answer to why i can do things like this.

I could be actually be slipping into a sort of REM where my sub-concsious is able to send an onslaught of beta waves thus heightening my awareness of mysurrounding with my sub-consiousness and controlling my body accordingly while my concsiousness is tucked away.
