I don't think it can cure sneezing, but i have heard some theories related to this curative theme. Apparently it can help confront fears, desires or whatever else you've buried deep enough into your subconscious that you can't access when awake. As you can't access them usually, you can't confront, overcome and resolve any issues which might exist there. They say you can overcome deep fears by lucid dreaming, which is in a sense, taking a control of your subconscious. This provides a sense of power over your subconscious, which can transfer to your waking state in the form of better mental health.
I have no idea if any of this is substantiated by validated tests or anything. But it sounds reasonable enough to me. LDs do provide a unique sense of freedom and control over the mind that ought to permit otherwise unavailable psychological resolutions. You'll never fear snakes again if you manage to make friends with them in your dreams?
On the art idea, i reckon LDs could be helpful here too. Don't see how they could develop your technical skills at drawing or anything, but LDs do 'open your mind' in a way that's quite inspirational. Many of my dreams are weirdly abstract and aesthetically pleasing, moreso than anything my mind comes up with when i'm awake. Some of my best sketches have been inspired by dreams, and lucid dreams ought to be even more inspirational, as they get you even closer in touch with such abstract sources of creativity.
Picasso was a lucid dreamer! (probably)
