      reading in dreams

why is nothing stable in dreams? why when you read somehting then turn around and read it again does it change? does anyone know or have ideas?
is it possible to change that and make it stable?!

Stabilizing dreams is a pain in the butt, I noticed if I try to do something too off the wall it starts to make the dreams unstable. So try focusing on something like your hands or feet you know what they look like and they may give you a base to solidify the rest of the dream. Reading itself and trying to do mathematics and the same ilk of things tend to be unstable in dreams for most people.

I think it has to do with those tasks being very logic oriented/pattern using. and therefor left brained.

The right side of your brain is the abstract, musical, creative, pattern seeker and also supposedly the part of the brain invoved with dreaming. So I think numbers and letters tend to get jumbled and makes reading difficult...

It may have to do with the dominance of your brain halves possibly if your more left brain dominant you will have an easier time reading if your right brain dominant it may make it more difficult. If your ambidexterous you may have a better chance of it, but thats speculation

I can read in my dreams, but I dont know how I do it =/ but then again my dreams are weird.

But if you notice things becoming unstable try looking at your hands and or feet and focus on them like I said, it takes time, but you will eventualy be able to stabilize your dreams and read, a friend of mine worked on it for a while and she was able to read and write.

      Good luck

I'm able to read in my dreams but it changes quickly. Either that or it repeats itself. I've met several people who can read in their dreams. Sometimes I wonder if they are only reading it once, and I forget to ask every time. If anything I would like to decrease the stability of my dreams. That way I would have a better chance of noticing that its a dream.

The fluidity of dreams makes stability hard to come by. It is easier to maintain inanimate objects (such as buildings and scenary). Remember, you are the author of your dream and the creator of that which you are reading. Sometimes the dream can get bogged down (like a computer) if there are many events happening at once.

      reading, writing, and

I sometimes dream that I am in libraries with endless walls of books, but when I try reading them, I end up frustrated because the words morph all the time...

I've found that it can be more fun to try imagining/creating script rather than trying to read what is already written down. Those who can read or write in other languages, especially in languages that are more pictographic or aesthetically pleasing might have some fun experimenting...

I have been very frustrated trying to figure this out, but do agree to try writing instead of reading.

if you write is it more stable?

what if you write something down on paper, put the paper on the table walk away and come back will it be the same?

I had a dream where I took some guns away from Nicolas Cage and his gang. Well, they all left and I was playing with the guns, like taking bullets out and stuff. I read on the gun that it was a .145 (whatever that means) and I checked one of the bullets and it was a .623 I should've caught the discrepency, but I thought that since I was reading I wasn't dreaming.

      writing v reading

I don't actually write using my hands -it's more like imagining script scrolling across a surface letter by letter. It's easier to do this if you can memorize something like a poem, song, or phrase and recall it. I often use this as a way of attaining lucidity as I'm falling asleep -memorizing scripture verses or lyrics and reading them aloud in my mind as the words scroll across...

I have read that some peaple have created a so called room they go to when they are lucid. when they visualize going to this room, things become more stable. I have heard of peaple praticing things. like speeches golf etc. because they are able to achieve repetition. maybe this would be useful when trying to read.

I read this thing on the internet, probably bullshit, but it said something about if your computor screen could flash really really fast and each frame would show a part of a book then in your dream you could recall everything that your *subconcious saw.[/url]

only people with photographic memory could do that. we have to take things through our short term memory before it gets into long term, photographic memories don't require that, things seem to go directly to short term and long term.
