      I just realised

In my dream last night I tried reality checks, none of them worked so I presumed it wasn't a dream, but now that I have woken up I see that it was a dream, how come my reality checks didn't work?

Also, when you have ludicity in a dream, how clear is it in the dream, does it depend on how long you've been doing it or just if you get lucky, would it be as clear as a RL day?

      Thanks

What reality checks did you do? And as for vividness and how clear a dream is it all depends. There's different levels of lucidity. Some might be blurry and unclear while others might be just as vivid on RL. You can even be lucid without being able to control the dream. I think the more lucid dreams you have the better you get at controlling yourself and the clearness of the dream your in. Practice makes perfect. Also keeping a dream journal might help in remembering the the finer details of a dream.

I tried the finger through my palm, hand through my chest and I tried to jump out of a window, but my hand wouldn't go through my chest and my finger wouldn't go through palm and the window was locked, I forgot about it until I came on here, I got really annoyed

I usually find that if I have the presence of mind in a dream to do a reality test, then at that point I'm lucid. The act of questioning reality is one stage of lucidity for me. Once I start questioning whether I'm in a dream or not, I don't need to do a reality check because I've already pulled myself out of the dream narrative and started to actually think.

Just a tip: this is not a recommended reality check, especially if you are above the 1st floor of the building.

Yes, I generally find this to be true as well. Doing an RC just confirms what I already know on some level.

The only reality check I do anymore is the nose RC. It's quick and always has worked for me.

I tryed the nose one last night and it was a big red thing that looked sorta like a nose but mainly a sorta red splodge.

Kinda wierd, but I did become lucid.

But yeah, as jesse says, the fact that you question the dream means it is a dream. You don't question real life do you?

I don't like the physical reality checks. I once had a dream where my friend had found a way to turn invisible, and I kept doing the hand reality check, but it didn't work. Since then I just sort of gave up on reality checks, but I'm doing them new now. I will plug my nose and try to inhale, and I also pull my hair to see if I feel the pain.

I would advise you to punch a wall into a wall, but not hard. Remember that you should do reality checks while awake aswell. I have found this is a good technique; you will only feel a light pain while awake and when you are dreaming you will feel no pain at all.

As long as you do not worry about feeling the small amount of pain it should go well; if you are worrying in the dream that it will hurt, then you will perhaps feel imaginary pain.
