I have Melatonin 3 MG and B6 100 MG. How much do I need to take to get more active dreams?

Well anyway, I took one of each pill. I didn't remember any dreams until I woke up which was my alarm clock going off. I wrote down the small dream (not vivid) and went back to sleep. I woke up 30 minutes later and wrote down another small non vivid dream. Went back to sleep and started a dream, but decided to get up after waking up. I'm guessing it works, because I kept going in and out of dreams quickly. Only problem was they weren't vivid enough. Am I taking the right amount?

I think what you're taking should be enough. 100mg of B6 is perfectly sufficient, and though I don't use melatonin, I believe the amount you're using is sufficient also. I wouldn't try using more if I were you. Also, don't take B6 in such large amounts daily, over a long period... try to limit and break-up your usage.

I personally find that B6 gives me much longer, clearer dreams. Also, B6 is a great way to kick me out of a bad recall slump. I used some last night, got a vivid, crazy dream after having next to no dreaming in nearly two weeks due to high stress, alcohol, and not enough sleep. But, if used correctly and not too frequently, B6 can work wonders. I should probably, at some point, get some melatonin also.

Oh, yeah, also: if you want to get the BEST effects from B6, use it during a WBTB. Wake up after 4.5 or 5 hours of sleep, take a pill, and go back to sleep. That way,the b6 will kick in during your longest rem-cycles, which is what you want. Taking b6 before bed won't get you as good results.

Well I know that I had a really good sleep last night. Didn't even wake up until the alarm woke me up and thats not usual (I usually will wake up around 5am and stay up for around a hour eating and going online). Maybe I'm taking too much melatonin?

I will try taking the b6 later in the night, but when would I take the melatonin?

And what happens if you use b6 too much?? Just a higher tolerance to it?

Use the melatonin at the same time as the b6, I would try.

Taking LARGE amounts of B6 on a daily basis for extended periods of time can lead to neurological damage. Remember, when you take a 100mg pill, you are taking about 50 times the required daily intake. I personally get a slight headache the day after taking b6. As long as you limit your b6 usage to maybe 1 or 2 times a week, you should be fine.

And what would this mean to your brain? Start going crazy, brain damage, or what?

I just want to get the basic facts about b6, so I won't go overboard. Thanks

Overdosing in B6 can cause temporary nerve damage, deadening your nerves and causing a temporary feeling of numbness, usually in the hands, feet. Extremeties, etc.... not good but that's only temporary.

There's a whole host of potential long-term effects as well.

Read this little thingie for example.

It says on the bottle you can take it daily, so I'll use it again tonight. I want to see if this works well. I haven't seen to many people talking about it. But on that url you gave me one of the side effects for use above daily value is increased dreaming... intresting. Thanks again.

Don't take it daily. B6 is usually taken to relieve PMS symptoms. As such, it's not MEANT to be taken on a daily basis for large periods of time. IF you're gonna use it for dreaming, I highly reccommend taking no more than 100 or 200 mgs, no more than once or twice a week.

So you suggest taking melatonin after 5 or 6hrs of sleep? My melatonin sleep aid contains 3mg of melatonin and 50mg of B6 but I never took it during WBTB because I thought it would put me in a deeper and longer sleep making it hard to remember dreams or something. Does 50mg of B6 even make a noticable difference?

      Hello General Discussion,

I find that taking two pills of Vitamin B6 causes me some insomnia, I wake up in the middle of the night and stay awake. I only will take one pill before going to bed or two in the middle of the day.
High doses are known to cause dreams, and also gets prescribed for some kind of female health problem. I read a long time ago that taking too much (toxicity) will cause temporary nerve damage like Blue Meanie said, but I don't know how much that is. As long as it's not causing insomnia you're probably ok.
