Dream Guides?

Last night I had a lucid dream which involved a character who was teaching me about lucid dreams. He did some amazing things and told me about some cool stuff I found it really interesting. He was a factory owner at this factory I was in... i was already lucid at this point and he told me that he would increase the clarity of my dream and all of a sudden the dream was much more vivid and everything had tremendous detail... it was crazy. Once my surroundings were so real I found it more difficult to fly or fly through objects... or even do some reality checks (like putting my finger through my palm) He told me that i just had to believe and that you can do anything in a lucid dream. he also told me it's possible to breathe under water.... I found this dream character very interesting.... i made a special note of what he looked like, he looked sort of like a cartoon character but maybe I'll see him again. I was wondering if anyone else had dream characters that helped you guide through you through your lucid dream or helped makea new dreamscape or something along those lines?

i don't know from personal experience, but i have read that many people have dream guides. it's not that unusual, i've read that your guide can help you in your lucidity quest too. you should ask your guide questions b/c you will most likely see it again.

Hello Zuma, I began my lucid dreaming experience at age 6. My first lucid dream began with a guide teaching me how to control my movements. This guide was instrumental in my dreaming ability and taught me much through many dreams over a period of years. He would always speak to me over my left shoulder and I never saw a face, although in my first lucid dream I had the impression of Casper the friendly ghost (hey, I was only six)!

I think the majority of dream/spirit guides are alot less clear than yours -- or if they are... perhaps we aren't meant to remember... Alot of the time the guides are represented as animals, though as humans, too. There are alot of resources on the net if you want to find out more, but be careful as to what you decide to believe.

Most of my lucid dreams have "dream guides" in them, but I have come to recognize that many of these guides tend to be malicious... or at least deceptive. I find myself testing them to see what their motives might be. Some are positive, but because of many of my dreams where the "guide" suddenly changes shape or form after gaining my trust or getting on my good side, I have become more skeptical and discerning as to which ones may be positive and which ones may be deceptive. Some believe that the guides are simply manifestations of our consciences, fears, etc. Because of the reactions these guides seem to display (such as anger or surprise at my awareness of them), I am convinced that they are more than this. Asking them questions is a good idea.

Everybody has a dream guide(s), its just a matter of meeting them. if you are luck enough to meet your dream guide(s) you can ask them anything about dreaming, yourself, etc. and they will know. basically, it is like talking directly to your subconscous.

YOU are your dream guide! You guys seem to be forgeting that everything is in our head. If you find a dream guide its because you created it, and everything hes saying to you you already know, but dont know how to find it. I suppose if you were a lucid expert you could create many different dream guides, and even control what comes out of his mind, but this is coming from a novice so...

No matter where you go there you are... And no dreams are not all just in your head, having a couple shared dreams, has proven that to me. My friend has been getting some good lessons from her dream guid, I on the other hand dont seem to have one, another friend suggested that I didnt need one...I sure as hell think I do though, being lost in another world can suck at times.

i think it might be fun to have one, like a friend? or are they more like "gods"..? becuase if it's strictly that then...no.

As I hear from fellow lucid dreamers, the dream guides are like your teacher. They know (possibly) more about you than you do. Like your subconcious. They can teach you about yourself and about how to manuever within the dream world. I imagine my dream guide to act like an equal and to be very wise; unlike me.

Does anyone know how you would distinguish such a guide? As opposed to the other persons/manifestations in a dream? I happen to believe that all dreams are, like you said, "within your head," but I'm not so sure that we are not susceptible to outside influences at times. I guess this has to do with the way some of these "manifestations" within my dreams suddenly become evil or attack me causing me physical pain at times, and other times are so intense in their attack I have been forced to wake myself up... This happens especially when I question them and test them in areas of spiritual truth and in dream control/interpretation. I've heard several psychological/physiological explanations that only helped further my beliefs that science has no wisdom or Truth to offer in these areas...
