Okay I read This topic and got inspired.

I found out, by my own experience and reading alot of other dreamer's experiences, that it indeed it true that the Subconcious, Dreaming Mind kind of tries to Prevent Lucidity all the time. And when you are Lucid it tries to make you loose your lucidity again.

Good example: I dreamt I was in my block under a bueatyfull spring morning sky. Suddenly I noticed a Huge Dream Sign: I saw the Sky when I looked down to the ground below eyelevel too!. That's weird isn't it? Then my Subconcious Mind made me think ''Oh that's just a Reflection of the SKY seen in a large pool of water'' Good job of my subconcious to stop me fro reaching lucidity.

However NOT eating is kind of an extreme measure and might possibly even negatively affect dreams and sleep:I think you actually sleep deeper to save what little neutricians you have in your Food-deprived System: Like a bear in Hybernation. Way to deep to become Lucid.
Now the thread this one is Inspired on tells about a technique where Conditioning is used to Motivate the Subconcious Mind to STOP trying to keep us from Lucidity and ALLOW Lucidity instead...sort of...well anyway, you Catch my drift?

      Okay here's for the technique:
      The basis is this:
Had a Lucid Dream? Reward yourself dearly.
Had No Lucid Dream? Punish yourself.

It's conditioning and meant to Motivate you more to Dream Lucidly.

One way of doing this is a good technique for (Pot) Smokers:
Start doing this and tell yourself:''Every night I DON'T have a Lucid dream I will NOT be allowed to smoke the entire next day'' (tobacco, weed, hash...non of it) And KEEP yourself to it: Hey it's healthy not to smoke and know what you're doing it for: Lucid Dreaming.

Maybe after a couple of days without smoking your cravings to smoke a cigarette or Joint will increase your Motivation to Lucid Dream.

Any Smokers with me on this Experiment? Just post a Reply saying you're a Smoker/Potsmoker and you're in for the experiment.

Furtherly this Topic is also meant to discuss more possible Techniques that work with the Power of Conditioning: Do Good, Feel Good. Do Bad, Feel Bad.Now the one written above is for smokers and pot-smokers, but you can also do this same thing by depriving yourself of something else you love and are used to doing frequently.( When you're not a smoker )

If you're fond of Candy and eat it alot you can try depriving yourself of Candy for a day after having had No Lucid Dream the night before. Reward yourself with lots and lots of Candy after having had a Succesfull Lucid Dream.
If you're a real Coffee-Junky, try this technique with Depriving yourself of Coffee for a day when you didn't Lucid Dream the night before. Reward yourself with lots of Coffee when you had a succesfull Lucid dream.
If you're a real Gamer and really hooked to gaming: Do this same trick with Gaming.

You get the Idea. You can make up your own Lucidity Conditioning by depriving yourself of something very habitual & dear to you for a day if you did NOT have a Lucid Dream the Night before. Reward yourself by suddenly allowing yourself to do your dayly habbit again for a day: Be it smoking, Drinking Coffee, Gaming, eating Candy...or on whatever you're hooked or have a sort of addictive habbit for.

my suggestion is that for non smokers, the method could be abstaining from masturbation. It's similar in principle, it's a prominent part of our lives and the punishment increases in severity over time. The mind could be conditioned in the same way probably.

LOL, you're quite attached to this idea. I can see why. It's a good one.

According to CC, a notorious liar but also sometimes a teller of profound truths, sexual energy was the key to dreaming and to the next world. If you want to achieve control of your dreams, be very careful about the sexual energy you expend. That's what he says.

Anyway, sounds like it could work.

wow, do you know thats one of the major things in psycology. i am taking a class about it. name something that you do that you dont get something in return. everything we do is trying to get something better or more for ourself.... very interesting observation... good call. how to punish yourself? hit yourself on the head? you have to do something thats regular that tells your brain your stupid for not having a LD. cool idea tho.

      Hey everyone

I think that is a really good idea. It would take alot of dedication and discipline. For when those Withdrawals come you will feel really bad, but that will make you want a Lucid Dream even more. So i also like the idea of when you do have a lucid dream reward yourself greatly. LOL it strangely reminds me of the subconsious mind being like a pet. In order to teach it tricks, for example if you want a dog to do a trick you would keep teaching it HOW to do it and keep drumming it in to the dog and when it finaly does the trick you reward it. Anyways back to the topic lol. I am actualy gunna try this and im guna choose the candy option.

      Talk to you guys later
