      I'm a bit confused. Is MILD just going to sleep and having an LD during sleep? so then What's DILD?
      WBTBs = 5
      DILDs = 17
      WILDs = 2
      DEILDs = 3
      MILDs = 12

      Total Lucid Dreams = 38
      Last LD = 02/21/08

      The mnemonic induction of lucid dreams (MILD) is a common technique used to induce a lucid dream at will by setting an intention, while falling asleep, to remember to recognize that one is dreaming, or to remember to look for dream signs. Because it is easy to master (almost everyone sets intentions frequently), it is ideal for those who have never practiced lucid dreaming induction techniques before. source

      A DILD is where you are having a normal dream, induced simply by sleeping, and then come to the realization that you are in a dream, and thus becoming Lucid. source

      So then MILD = only the technique and DILD = the result? o_O
      WBTBs = 5
      DILDs = 17
      WILDs = 2
      DEILDs = 3
      MILDs = 12

      Not really... DILD is a very broad term for becoming lucid in the dream, or to start by being lucid. Basically, going to sleep unconcsciously and becoming aware somewhere down the line. Your confusion is probably from the fact that our MILD tutorial is terrible. You should buy EWOLD by stephen laberge (it's in the books list tutorial), which has a great description of the MILD technique. In fact, Stephen Laberge, the author, is the inventor of the MILD techinque.

      Burns is right about what she says, but the great part about this technique is that it is pretty complicated and it really works. The MILD techinque is basically, as burns said, remembering to REMEMBER to realize you're dreaming. You know how some people tie fingers to their fingers, or write something on their hand, or sometimes just place a blank sticky note on something to remember something? Well, these are all mnemonic devices that remind you to remember. We don't have these in a dream, so we have to depend on our own memory to remember to realize we are dreaming.

      In EWOLD, Laberge gives a list of 4 or 5 "targets" for each day. These targets are things like "when a dog barks" "when you go outside" "when you see a flower." You are not looking for these things, but the point of them is to do a reality check everytime you see them. By becoming more advanced in this, being able to have the intention to remember somethingand then doing it when the time is right, really increases your chances to remember to become lucid. So ultimately, you are training your body so when you set the intention before you go to bed, "I want to remember to remember to become aware that I'm dreaming," you are going to become lucid once you are in the dream. It's the same concepts of the targets.

      So basically, MILD is the specific techinque that involves memory techinques to remember to remember to become lucid, and DILD, dream induced lucid dream, is the technique of becoming lucid within a dream. This pretty much encompasses most of the techinques on the board, except for WILD where you fall asleep consciously.

      Good luck!
