I realize I'm not the best person to do it, but If not me, who? I'm going to teach a Lucid Dreaming class at my school (it's high school/junior high) for 1 hour and ten minutes every other day! pretty snazzy, no? I feel like with all the resources on the internet (especially this one) I can fairly easily teach a beginners' class. I'm going to give them all dream journals, teach them everything I know, and hopefully get them to all sign up here at dream views. Any thoughts on the matter? My school's pretty cool and free flowing, and I get a lot of creative liberty for the class. They're being graded solely on attendance and how well they keep up their dream journals. (I Think) I'm pretty stoked. So, registration starts today, we'll see if the class carries.

Gabe out.

Man, that's pretty awesome in my book. However, aren't there people at your school that will beat you up for being weird?

When I was in school, I was into biorythms, meditation, and all that kind of stuff. There was no way I was going to come out of the closet with it! That could get a person killed!

I hung these around the school for starters. I think they'll be surprised to find out that I'm the teacher (Being a student myself) for the first day of class, I want to do something surprising and exciting. Like maybe... I dunno. This is why I need you guys.

Sprout, you are a brave, brave man.

I thought about starting a dreaming circle before, just a small group of us who dream journalled and got together once a week to discuss any important or strange dreams. Nothing too serious, just a way to socialize with others who are interested in dreaming. Never got that project off the ground... i have a small problem called laziness that prevented me from going through with my plan. But bravo to you for going through with your class.

Hope it all works out for ya.

OK, first, best place to start is letting them know what lucid dreaming is, then launch into some of the scientific proof offered by LaBerge so they know for sure it is real and not some kind of Voodoo. Then go into some experiences of your own and of people you know. Be sure to ask the audience if any of them have had experiences and invite them to share them. Then define some terms like dreamsign, reality check, and so on. Then start them on their journals.

Wow, that's cool, good doing
Well, what to start with... uhm, let me be honest, plz change the flyers >.<
If you wan't I can help with designing them, (not today, couse tomorrow I have an exam, but tommorow is ok for me), also you might want to add some more information on them, to make it a little more appealing.

And also, when will be the first day of class? ^^

teaching = best way of learning (especially if you get stuck at a particular level)

I want to try running a LD workshop someday - somewhere like one of the temples of Asclepius in Greece, or perhaps just in a forest in Wales...

Best of luck - keep us posted please.

Ha ha. Yeah, I whipped it up during chemistry. Everything is blocked on our server so I couldn't get any decent images, I plan on revising it when I get home. Asking you to do one would be a little superfluous because the first day of class is tomorrow or today. :X

Seeker, thank you. That was really really helpful. Also, expect a minor swarm of new users shortly, as I plan to make this forum part of the curriculum (if that's ok) I tried to find a copy of ETWOLD at my local bookstore, with no such luck. Maybe I'll have to order it. I promise to keep everyone posted.

Lucid dreaming is one of those things you almost have to experience to appreciate.

Good luck with it!

I really like the idea of it. You are a brave person though. Once a person from my class started a simple roleplaying thing in my school. Many people laughed at him. This generation is so close-minded :/

It'd be great to teach lucid dreaming to people, of course at the end of the year as a final exam in English, we have to do a 10 class course on any topic of our choice, I am going to chose Lucid Dreaming of course!
I repesct your courage in doing something like that, hopefully you'll get tons of people signing up to learn about LD'ing, and hopefully your school is mature enough not to think you're weird or into Voodoo or something.

Oh, that sounds like a great idea. Except I would need the permission of the admins. Just some place to review "today's lesson" etc. In case you miss anything, also a place where people like seeker and slim and burns can point and laugh at my sad skillz, and correct me where I've made mistakes. I would like that. A few more kids signed up. Anyone else have any ideas for an inspiring first day? I'm a big fan of the idea of teaching by doing (kinthetic?) because I learn by doing, and I think a lot of these kids do as well. Although I was totally taken aback by a couple of the names on the list. I haven't even been tarred and feathered. Not once.

Something to really pound in the concept and get them excited at the same time.

maybe just need to sleep on it.

Em great idea but are you going to read their dream journals??? Wouldn't that be invading their privacy? what if they don't want you to read them? Or like if they have... sexual dreams...hehe.
I want it thick and long and to keep me up all night... I'm talking about the Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows book you pervs!!!
