Author's, PhDs, "Dreams & Dreaming FAQ"

Years before I completed my dissertation "Dreaming & Stress Coping in Cancer Patients" in fulfillment of my PhD in Social-Personality Psychology, I was keeping a computer-based dream diary, logging in over 2,000 typed pages of text about 750 of my most significant dreams. I also published a novel based in real events about the relationship between dreaming & waking experiences and the struggle of four scholars to pursue the truth about dreaming in an academic culture inhospitable to the study of dreams.

I composed a series of essays addressing frequently asked questions about dreams.

      http://www.fireflySun.com/book/DREAM_FAQ.php

      Discussions include:

      1. Relating the content / characteristics of dream experiences with blood chemistry, coping styles, and symptomatology in cancer patients.
      2. Addressing the role of symbolism in the psychological economy.
      3. The role of mathematical operations in interpreting dreams that include numbers.
      4. Discrediting dyspeptic skeptics, slouches, and other sources of prejudice against dreaming
      5. Proposing empirical concepts for a science of dreams analogous to meteorology.

      I hope you enjoy it.

Hey, everyone, I took a peak at his Webpage... the guy isn't kidding. he's for real. I read the section on Subjectivism, Sectarianism, Collectivism and Cosmicism, and was impressed with the discernment with which he was able to render some very helpful intellectual distinctions. If he shows the same insight in all the other areas of this Work, then it could be very useful reading. I myself clicked it over to my Favorites.

      Looks wonderful!

I wanted to be a psychologist for some time, but it turns out that what I really wanted was a science of dreaming - one that actually considered dreams themselves as experiences worthy of empirical study - and psychology could not offer this, especially to an undergraduate.

Already I appreciate your work in this area.

Don't waste your time following that link - its Wyatt Ehernfels blowing his own trumpet, loudly, on and on and on and on... I couldn't find anything useful/ interesting about LDing or anything - but then it was hard to see past the arrogant verbiage. Would be happy to be corrected here - especially by Wyatt (if he ever visits this site other than to promote himself?)
