If everyone knew about LDs.....I mean some people would say : "don't mind going to jail....I can have LDs"....then a sleep prison would be created (waking you up before you can dream).....
....having laws about what you can or can't do in a dream.....
....some people wouldn't care about their real life anymore.....
      I had plenty of thoughts about it....but can't really remember.....what d'you think?

I think that people need some kind of rules and laws to live. I'd trade LDing in prison for the rest of my life, with being free without LDs anytime.

It depends what prisons would be for, keeping others safe, or punishing the criminals. If it was for punishment then your sleep prison would make sense. Laws in dreams seems a bit sci-fi, but who knows what technology we'll have in the future.

Anyway I think that it's rare for someone to think "don't mind going to jail....I can have LDs", unless they are somehow mental, but that's just my opinion.

This reminds me of the book hannibal, when he was in jail he spent all of his time in his memory palace. Also most of the time dreaming too. I would choose freedom over lucid dreaming, however it good to know that if something happen like you get paralysied you can walk in your dreams.

Well I know for sure that if everyone knew about lucid dreams, it would be within conversation more. Along with “how was your day?” People would also ask “what did you do in your lucid dream last night?”. Something like that anyway.

If it was more known in society I still wouldn't like how there would be laws to your own dream. It would be no ones business what we do in our lucid dream , only if we wished to talk about it. Though, with "dream walking" I've personally never experienced this or if it can really been done, but there could be a law on people walking in on your dreams. I can see that developing into a law if Lucid dreaming was more known. I guess it would depend on the law with dreams/lucid dreaming.

I've always thought about it, if we have lucid dreams than why worry about real life. I think lucid dream can be used to improve your life and make it more enjoyable, so you wouldn’t have to believe that in the end you only have your lucid dreams.

If I could "touch" the world in some way, I dont know if I wouldn't mind being in a LD of some kind

however, I do think rules are needed in all things

Indeed. Conversation would no longer be a lost art. There would suddenly be more things to talk about than stupid tv shows and the hard day at work that we have every darn day. No more talking about the weather; conversation would actually mean something and I might actually talk to someone.

Oddly, I find talking to DCs much more rewarding than real people; if we all knew about this amazing reality and accepted it as indeed a reality, the world would might actually be interesting. The most important thing is that programmed ways of thinking would not be so common as it is now. People would be thinking on their own. This means the world would probably not be such a wasteland of greed and lies.

This reminded me of a short story I once read, in which taxes had been expanded to cover the dream world as well. The taxes you payed depended on how many dreams you had, and what sort of things happenned in them. Sort of a scary thought, isn't it?

As for laws pertaining to dreams, I doubt that would happen. Various statutes on privacy should prevent it, such as cases deciding in favor of the right to have one's personal affairs remain personal, and also the privacy to do what one will "in the bedroom."

Lucid dreaming would probably be good for society. I mean, how much of what experienced lucid dreamers often do centers around wealth and greed? Lucid dreaming really emphasises exploration and creativity as a way to have fun, rather than fulfilling oneself with material wealth. Some people already realize this, but if everyone were to lucid dream frequently and deeply, I think it might be a big step in the right direction.

      New philosophical movement, anyone?

The thing LDs do best is to break boundaries. Boundaries cause a lot of human suffering, whether it be gender, racial, religious boundaries - lucid dreaming throws everything out the window and all you have left is acceptance and inspiration and possibility. If there were some way to apply the dissolving of boundaries into waking life then I'd argue that we humans would more readily receive the world as a gift and not a possession.

Killing people just makes too much money though, now doesn't it.
