I was just wondering, cause I've never heard of people trying this. If you have fairly good control when you're lucid, has anyone ever tried to "summon" background music? If you know a song well enough, do you think you could imagine it, expect it in the dream and hear it when you come around a corner or something?

While flying perhaps you could play your favorite song to enhance your experience.

      Just curious

You could have your own theme music like Peter from Family Guy , just don't wish you had no bones later on heh.

I do this every night. The music is much clearer than if you were wearing headphones. It just sort of happens usually because I am either writing or listening to music all day, but I can also just make it happen by playing songs in my head. Make it a part of your routine; for example first get clarity, do a few math problems, and pick a song to listen to.

You can do endless things with this, as well as "enter" the song as your mind creates a new reality based on your impressions of the music. The most profound experience of my life involved this sort of thing. I cannot imagine flying on a clear night without some music playing.

Well the other day I had a dream where I was at a local discount store and I heard them playing one of my chillout cd's, funny, I didnt register I was dreaming even though I thought,

"Hmm, that's weird. Since when would they play this kind of music, oh well, maybe their taste is slowly improving..."

Another time I played an extraordinary song on the piano. (btw i do play the piano) But this was much more advanced!
      (also non lucid)

You make a good point Never, in a dream the music would be so much better! When you think about it, your brain only interprets sound waves, so why shouldnt it be able to 'recall' them in a dream.

I only remember two dreams where I heard music. One of them was lucid and I was at a concert but I don't remember what it sounded like. After waking up from the non lucid one I was amazed how real it sounded, it was exactly like hearing it in real life.

I'm trying to sleep with music tonight, maybe I'll hear it in my dreams.

Aww man, I've finally found a fan on this site. Family Guy is hands down the best cartoon out there, south Park a close second. Hearing music in your dreams sounds interesting. Imagine killing zombies to some head banging heavy metal. Oh the possibilities..

I turned on, or a DC did, a radio in a LD once. Though I heard the music, everything started to get fuzzy (sound and image). But that doesn't mean that it happens every time, or to everyone.

I had this happen to me except it was a tv show. I left it up a little and it was driving me crazy to begin with, but I was to lazy to reach for the remote and didn't wanna ruin my SP. When I finally fell lucid I could still hear the TV. It was quite annoying.

I don't think I've ever had background music, but I have had scrolling credits to a song like at the end of a movie. And I remember thinking to myself at the end of the dream during the credits, "I should write this dream down because it would make an awesome movie!"
