I've tried the WILD many times now with no luck. My dream recall is good. I am looking for tips and/or suggestions (maybe I'm doing something wrong). I set my alarm to go off five hours after I fall asleep. I understand that is because the REM cycle lasts longest after about five-six hours of sleep, and it is also easiest to get back into after about five hours of sleep. Anyway, I'll wake up and stay up for about 30 minutes. WHY DO YOU HAVE TO STAY UP FOR 30-60 MINUTES??? I DON'T GET THAT PART. Anyway, I'll keep the lights off and stay in bed because I have found that if I get up or turn on a light I am too awakened. I'll write down all my dreams I just had during the 30 minutes. I also think about what I want to lucid dream during the 30 minutes of being awake. OK finally, the 30 min. is over and it's time to relax. I try the 61 point teqnique, and I clear my head. I try to watch (but not focus too hard) on the images or colors that may appear behind my eyes. I usually can feel my body feel tired (numb) but not that intensely. I will maybe see some colors and patterns, but they don't last long (like seconds and they are not un-ordinary in any way). When I think I've gotten to a point of real relaxation I'll think in my head "1: I am dreaming", and keep counting with that phrase, while breathing slowly and deep. I'm not overly excited, and can't figure out why I never progress further with the transitional phase. I'll usually be in the relaxing phase for about 45 min. waiting for something to happen (images or pretty colors). Next thing I know I am usually awake a couple hours later, and dissappointed I might add. Someone have any tips, or suggestions? Am I doing something wrong? And what is the point of staying awake for the 30 minutes?
      Thanks.

I think the point of beeing awake for 30 minutes or more is to wake yourself up.

I'm not the right guy to give you advice, but I think you should try being awake for more than 30 minutes, 60-90 minutes perhaps.
