I could just tell you that the answer to life, the universe, and everything is 42. |

Hey, i was just wondering if anyone else shares this same experience that keeps happening to me, its something i would love to try and unlock in a lucid dream. Every so often i have these moments, sort of thoughts in my mind that come to me briefly and then drift away, they seem to be thought that when i think about them now are like the answers to the universe and many other questions, like how to time travel, its asthough i am getting glimpses of this stuff, its really strange, i feel it ever so often and i feel so perculiar after. I feel clear and at rest, its funny because its these sort of questions that boggle my mind, just thought i'd get this out here since i'm curious, maybe its possible that these feelings and thoughts i have experienced briefly might be stored away in my mind and i may be able to access them within a dream. feedback would be awesome, and sorry if this is off topic but it has really confused me, its like i know something but i don't, i just can't get my head around it. |

[Obsessive]
Some people here get dreams quite often where something seems amazing in the dream, then is remembered to be ridiculous afterwards. I don't think you are going to learn anything in your dreams that you don't already know, although you could get a better understanding of the facts you already have. |

Ten years without a dream, now starting almost from scratch.
We're messing with our bodies on a very low level here - can we break them? What will it take to hurt ourselves?
A little nonsense now and then is relished by the wisest men.

I think I may know what you're talking about. I get moments like that too, I believe the word for them is reveries, otherwise known as daydreams. Sometimes I will be sitting down, sorta zoning-out, but not really asleep. During these periods it seems as if my mind can wander outside of my standard train of thought. After a few seconds, could be a few minutes (its hard to tell), I will snap back without any recollection of my previous thoughts. In some cases I will remember a feeling, like the experience of enlightenment or some grand revelation, but the specifics are lost. Other times what I remember is total nonsense (or so it appears) and really has nothing to do with anything concrete. There was one time when this happened (as I was awaking) and it felt like some force was holding me back from remembering what I just thought. It was rather strange, but I couldn't move my body and was having trouble controlling my own thoughts. It was very strange (it only lasted maybe 10 or 15 seconds). The next night I had a lucid dream specifically pertaining to the image that I couldn't grasp before. Strange, I know. It doesn't happen all the time, but its weird when it does. |

cybereality, thats exactly what i'm talking about, it feels so strange, and to some of the people who took the mick, i never claimed to know, i was just theorising. thanks for explaining that too me cybereality |

How do you feel about the knowledge afterwards? You said you felt peaceful but what about your attitude towards this answers you got? |

Why are people focused on things like "the meaning of life?" Do people really think one "meaning" will be able to quantify the totality of all life experience, the universe, and basically every significance that life has? I say that there is no answer to the universe or meaning of life, and any one thing is too complex to submit such a stereotypical, simplification to it. |
|
I'm fairly sure people have their own motives for searching an answer to the meaning of life... |
|
Ev.. Depressive? Yes it is. The truth is depressive. But it is the truth. Why we are here? Its a coincidence we are here. We are here to have sex and make babies. So our race doesent go extinct.. We just think we need a special meaning because were 'smarter'.. People get real. |

yeah, its good to have a meaning, me, i'm an athiest so i'm not for religions explanation, but thinking about what i said now, i feel rather stupid putting it the way i did, its a feeling of openess, asthough i knew things i wouldn't normally know, i could do things i couldn't normally do. I should have looked more into what i was feeling instead of saying "answer to the universe", though it seemed like that then, i've had a few of these moments and they seem to be dream related, they seem to be really good past dream i've had that have inspired me. Back to the meaning of life thing, you could say that theres a meaning for everyone's individual existance, but its comforting too know that we are in a way "special" and individual and have individual meanings, were all in this together and if we can't accept a negative scientific explanation for everything then we might aswell give up, i think that life is what you make it, its too short too worry about things. |

This is sort of how I feel on the subject. It's like "Why are animal's here?" Animals really only do one thing in liferoduce offspring. We are the human animal; I think that's something a lot of people forget. |

It is so cool to see other people talking about this. I have had those moments too. One that really stands out happened 12 years ago. I was stoned out of my mind and talking to a friend in another friend's kitchen. Out of the blue, for about half a second, I thought I conceptualized the secret of the universe. It was so abstract I couldn't even explain it. It had something to do with timelessness and the infinite significance of universal consciousness and how my entire life is a component of it. Aside from those terms, it was beyond words. |
