I had a great lucid experience last night that began as a very vivid experience before becoming lucid. When i reached lucidity, i found myself immediately conscious of all the felling and senses of my organs, namely my skin. I was on a large beach looking out to a small jagged peaked island immersed in water soo clear that i could see sand for what seemed like kilometres. The sensation of the sand and water warming my feet and legs as i stood in it and the many females frolicing in and around the water gave me such an immense feeling of elation.

I told myself that the dream i had i would concentrate on meditating instead of reaching for the first set of legs I could see---this proved to be much more enjoyable. As i sat cross-legged in the shallows looking out on this water, i noticed a watermark of a moon in the sky. It was daytime and the moon was still out except instead of being faint and dim, it controlled the horizon and the entire sky.

I remembered a few techniques that i had spoken to some ppl here about such as looking around at small details (the bits of sand), concentrating on the moment and sensations (warm water, sand and breeze) and not getting too excited as i realize how much further i could push the experience.

I think the meditation lasted for what felt like 2 minutes of my experience before i was approached with a sparkling, flowing body of perfection...I couldn't resist taking the chance and finished off the LD with a bit of naughty activity. All in all, i'd say its been one of the best LD's so far.

On a side note, I have read on here before that some LD-ers have had problems with others blaitant ignorance when it comes to understanding what lucid dreaming is and the possibilities involved. Last week i had one of my more slave-to-freud professors tell myself and the entire class that lucid dreaming was only and can only be brought on by a traumatic event. She went on to compare it as a psychological negative which only pain and frustration could come out of as a child or person involved in an event such as a natural disaster would dream so vividly about their experience thus inducing feelings of great terror.
I was dumb-struck by this comment and made an un-actioned choice of not saying anything as my resonse would have nothing do do with the lesson as a whole. Her comment was a side-note and very brief yet frustrating enough to listen to as most of the American Idol-izing, media worshipping students with lack of analytical thought ate up all the bullshit. Anyone else have stories about these kind of events?

Beautiful dream - and great job of describing it. Thank you.

Regarding the teacher... "correcting" in front of the class would have probably been satisfying but unwise in the long run. It's sad hearing that kind of jibberish being taught though. Have you considered approaching her in private, telling her of your own experiences and pointing her here or maybe loaning her LaBerge's book?

I would have liked to point it out to her in front of the class so that everyone could be aware of the false statements. Since all the people i have talked to in the class have not heard or practice LD-ing I feel that they should at the very least be exposed to the truth of LD-ing rather than a skewed freudian interpretation based on nothing but what the professor has read in a textbook. Approaching her quietly on the side still propells the lies that students now come to recognize as fact. We do have a review comign up and i may get a 'Round 2' lol.

Approaching this type of professor personally has led to the ol' blank vacant stares and the facade of confirmation of my views. She is too caught up in appearing right with her PhD and bases most of her teaching on that fact. Unfortunately it is not myself that is suffering the most since everyone in the class has to listen to her dribble and take it as fact sicne its coming from a professor...weak.

As for the book, i think she could definately benefit from the insights inside of it especially because it is backed by what most professors perceive to be the ultimate proof in intelligence and knowledge....a Ph.D.

It is very frustrating when people, especially people who have background in psychology, act this way towards lucid dreaming. I've been fortunate enough this year to have a psychology/sociology professor who actually not only brought up the subject of lucid dreaming in class, but encouraged it/encouraged teaching it to children. She also has us meditate in her class. AND she has a PhD! So I guess not all hope is lost in this area...just thought I'd throw that in there.
