Hey there everyone I've always found forums to be an interesting thing and to tell you the truth this is the first one that I can see myself posting more than a couple times in. The thing that amazes me about forums is that on the technical side they are all the same but everyone has their own topic, their own feel, their own rules, their own members. The only difference between any given forum is the people that frequent it. Obviously the reason we all come here is to learn more on the topic of Lucid Dreaming. What I'm asking in this thread is what were the urges in your life that got you interested on this topic. What was the turning point when you discovered you could grab on to those moments when you're sleeping and enrich your life with the lucid experience. What led you to this site, and what do you see yourself getting out of it.

I'll start with me. I used to have a lot of dreams when I was younger where I was in full control of the action and could fly, breathe under water, run super fast, jump super high and take on super villan type characters. the only thing is I would think it was completely real and sometimes I would literally fear for my life. In fact I used to have a recurring dream where me and my family were in my basement and would have to hide very quickly when a flying man in a cape looked in the window. I didn't know why but some how knew that if he saw me something horrible would happen. It was such a real experience that I used to fear him when awake. There where a bunch of other ones but it would take too long to write/read. One day I was in the basement and looked behind me to see the man staring menacingly in my direction. (dreaming haha) I felt a huge rush of fear and before I knew it he was holding me and we were flying through clouds with a red tint glowing through them. The clouds parted and for far as I could see were spouts of fire comming form a barren waste land littered with emaciated dead bodies. He dropped me and the bodies broke my fall. A whole bunch of other stuff happened after I got to my feet but I'll save that to request. It includes vivid smells and heat.

I included that dream because I knew that you could be conciously scared and have it carried over to waking life. I always had a feeling that you could control your dreams and once I stumbled over the word lucid dreaming and did a quick google search I happened upon this site... thank god.

Apart from the obvious reasons for wanting to lucid dream I feel that it will give me a richer life. Once I find my dream guide I'm going to consult him/her a lot and since I like to write, see if I can use what he/she says or maybe ask him/her to callaborate with me. Another thing is that this isn't even a pass time. It is actually a time salvage haha. I am going to live a longer concious life because of it.

When I am a father I am going to be able to give my kids the greatest gift ever. The knowledge of lucid dreaming. When they want me to read them a bedtime story I can read them a dream from my dream journal about A traveler in a magical world and his faithful all knowing guide that get into all kinds of mistifying situations.

And last of all. When I'm old and movement becomes laborious I can still be as limber as a 19 year old in my dreams.

      Welcome to the forums Hobtoh

I have always been fascinated by dreams since i was young, i had a select few dreams when i wa younger that i wished i could go back to but i knew i could't because it was just a dream, i always had this feeling that being able to revisit dreams was possible. I find lucid dreaming a fascinating, i'm on this forum the majority of my day, as sad as it sound i'm addicted to lucid dreaming in a way. I've only had 3 lucid dreams so far, they weren't even as good as i'd hoped but they kept me going, i love the whole concept of lucid dreaming.

I learnt about lucid dreaming when my friend mentioned it to me just before christmas, i thought it was aload of crap at first, a bogus theory, but then i did a little research and found aload of interesting stuff about it, i then stumbled upon this forum after chrsitmas, i post regularly because lucid dreaming is the best thing that i've ever known about, in fact now i know about it i don't know how i would live without it, it adds so much spice to your life, it feels great, its surprising that not many people know about it, i tell most people i know, not people at school though because i know that they would laugh and take the piss, i like to be taken seriously and i don't see how people can laugh at lucid dreaming, its an awesome addition to life, i'd say its essential to life, i can see myself living longer knowing about lucid dreams, i can do so much with it, i know people say about eating less of this and that, eating more fruit and veg etc and you live longer, but eating fruit and veg can't heal things mentally, this is where lucid dreaming helps, you may die of stress later on in life, lucid dreaming can help your mind in multiple ways including reducing stress, the freedom of being able to do what the hell you want is amazing, i can see myself living a longer more fuller life knowing about this, its so great that its a good conversation topic aswell, i've spend hours on msn talking to people about lucid dreaming.

When i'm a father i'm definately gonna show my kids this, if i have kids, the earlier the better, but i suppose it ain't up to me, its there choice if they wanna learn how to do it, but i don't see why any kid would say no to lucid dreaming, if i get married i will definately show my future wife this, a little lucid family lol.

I can see myself having a great life with lucid dreaming part of it, glad that DV told me so much about it, thanks alot everyone

I first heard about lucid dreaming a couple of months ago. I wanted to know why the mind dreams and how it was possible so I read up on it. Then I read about lucid dreaming and how you could control them with practice. So I researched some LD methods and I've been doing it ever since.
