I know that excitement kills lucid dreams. But is there a point where you can do things that excite you without losing lucidity? Because this has been my problem ever since i could remember. For me, the point of lucid dreaming is to have fun and do exciting things. I hear people say that if you get too excited to look away and focus on something else. Are you allowed to then look back? And wouldn't you just get excited again?

Getting excited is a HUGE roadblock for me! Ive had 4 lucids since joining, 2 last night, i'm really suprised that its working so fast for me but 3 out of the 4 were lost in a matter of seconds due to excitement. Is there anyway around this or a better way to cope with it? I'm getting really fustrated.

Personally it took me around two years to finally get over the excitement barrier. Honestly, I just had to keep doing it until just HAVING the lucid dream became something normal and no longer a cause of great excitement. But be happy! Getting excited is just one of the many barriers to long, productive lucid dreams. Then you'll have to deal with not focusing too much on any one thing, having to dream spin, don't focus on things close up, and all the other fun stuff that causes you to wake up. But hell, I think most of us will agree it's worth it.

Are these things you have to avoid doing forever? Or are they things you can learn to do with practice and still not wake up? Like will it ever be possible for me to get excited in a LD and not wake up?

Have you ever considered that maybe the problem here is not that you get excited too much, but that you think that getting excited makes you lose lucidity? It may affect it a tiny bit, but you could easily be exaggerating it subconsciously. Getting excited doesn't automatically make your lucid dream disappear, just remember that.

Never underestimate placebo.. =/ Dreams are comprised of more placebo then you could imagine. Hell, control techniques are pretty much all inherently placebo.
