      Thumbs up

Might lucid dreaming research and experiences lead us to a better understanding of waking life's true nature?
Might our waking consciousness be of a similar nature to our dreams, and thus hallucinations rather than actually real?
Might the world we experience living in be immaterial, just as the world of our dreams is a figment of imagination?

I hope these few questions are just a launching pad.

Whether it'll lead to some new sort of universal truth remains endlessly debatable, however, I do think lucid dreaming can help you to learn more about yourself and -your- true nature. It can be a great tool of self exploration and reflection, I believe Which is good because before go and try to figure out life's entire true nature lets just figure out who we really are ourselves first ^^

I don't think they are of the same nature, literally. What you see here is not literally a hallucination. This world is generally solid and stable, moreso than a dream. However, I do believe some -aspects- of waking life can be considered an hallucination/illusion, symbolically speaking. Like when you get extremely attached and focused on material weath, but thats another story

Who knows? I guess the answer wouldnt change anything because it wouldnt affect how real this world is. Its stable, and doesnt change easily. I think most people would say this world is definitely material and -real-. Thats just planet earth itself though, a lot of our -society- is build around immaterial concepts though that could change, if people could let it go (like the extreme attachment to material posessions, like I mentioned earlier)
