The other day I had a dream in which I was at the computer and suddenly became lucid. So I did the digital clock RC. After I realised I was dreaming I just flew out of the window.
Now, what if one of these days I believe that I'm dreaming and having a FA because of some bug on my mobile's clock and I decide to jump of my window to fly... It won't be pretty... What do you think of this? You think it's possible for that to happen while you're still sleepy?

I see what your saying, that's why I always do more than one reality check. So it lowers the odds of that happening.
That would be one pretty fuckin embarressing way to die though haha

Unless you have a super vivid dreams then I see this won't happen. Plus after a RC you are conscious so I don't see somebody jumping out a window. Don't jump out of windows after a FA would solve the problem.

Lol it's just that my FAs are pretty vivid and when I really wake up everything's fuzzy so it gets close... I hope my waking mind will be smart enough to realise it's not a dream if that ever happens!

Before you do an act that can hurt you, I am sure you can find 350 million other Laws of physics you could defy first.

And probably, I'd be too sleepy to to open the window and get on it in the first place, so I'd probably realise I was awake.

This is why I do the nose RC. No bug can make it work. Anyway, if you do jump out a window, you are already 100% sure that you are dreaming. If there was one doubt in your mind, you wouldn't risk your life by jumping. And if it was real life, that doubt would be there, because you are always more logical in waking life. Just my 2 cents.

Well yeah, I usually do the nose RC too, but sometimes in dreams I'm crazy enough to be sure I'm dreaming even without doing any RC!

I love to fly in my lucids, but I never jump right into anything that would kill me if I did it in real life. I have to defy the laws of physics first. If I fly, I don't do it by jumping out a window or off a building. I float straight up off the ground first. I have to prove that I'm dreaming before I do anything dangerous. A clock screwing up is not 100% proof that you are dreaming. Being able to float off the ground by your own power is.

I would never get into a dangerous activity that does not start with proof of dreaming. If you shoot laser beams out of your eyes, you are dreaming, without question. However, don't shoot lasers out of your eyes and then jump out a window. You could be really drunk or something later and think you just shot lasers out of your eyes and think it's safe to jump out a window. Always begin the dangerous act with something completely impossible in waking life. If you fly, float first. If you move through a wall, don't run into it. If you talk trash to somebody three times your size, make sure you are floating or have turned him into a lizard with your thoughts while you are doing it. Always make a safe act the beginning of a dangerous act.
How do you know you are not dreaming right now?

Besides that, the RC is part of the process of becoming lucid, not verifying it. There's a ton of posts in this forum where dreamers do a nose, clock, light switch RC, and the RC is good. But, they are not fooled into thinking they are awake. Remembering to do the reality check is the thing.

Most moments in loonie land will verify that you are dreaming. Things shift too often. Your self image is slightly different. There is also a "feeling" about it that I can recognize, and I don't need the RC to verify it. Like being able to think that I want to "go over there", and I am just there. Can't do that in the real world.
This lucid dream has encountered a fatal error! Reboot? [Y/N]

Haha, you just proved (right word?) yourself wrong in a way, if your unsure do the nose RC, and if youv have enough of a grip on LDing then you know when your dreaming and when youre not, for me, when im in a dream i know, i just know it, but if i have any doubt i always do the nose RC. My LDs over the past few months have ALL started in the same way, i didnt RC in any of them (about 9 in total), because i just knew from the setting.....

I have actually thought of this before. I have though: What if I suddenly thought this was a dream? What if I just threw myself out the window and it was not a dream.....

I usually do multiple tests like if you can stick you finger throguh your hand I think you might be dreaming

Yeah... If you can do that you probably are!! XD

Rationallity probably won't let us fall in that mistake, I guess... The first thing I do when I wake up after a FA is to do a RC, anyway... So that probably will never happen!

I wrote a short story about this in english class last year.

A boy thought he was lucid and killed his neighboor.

As most previous posters said, you will need multiple checks, i suggest you think about another 'safety' RC, just in case you're not sure... Also, jumping out of the window isn't necessarily the best 'first' thing to do when you're lucid, you might wanna hang around before commiting yourself to such an extreme act.

I can't see that ever happening to me. I could never believe I'm might dreaming when awake, as my awareness is very high. Perhaps it could happen if I were on LSD or something, though. So you have nothing to worry about, unless suffering from extremely serious delusions.

That actually happens a lot to people on LSD. They think they can fly, and well... you get the picture.

Therefor you should never fly out of a window in a Dream; You should always hoover upwards and float up from the ground. THEN fly away. You can never hurt yourself this way.

Are you sure about that? I have never heard of LSD doing that to somebody. But I have come across stories of PCP (angel dust) making people think like that. So, boys and girls, if you do PCP, float before you fly.

LSD can change a person's complete environment perception so I don't see no reason why it wouldn't make someone think they were able to fly...

Well, if there is anybody who's ever died from LDing before, I sure haven't seen them post about it here.

Its like, you are at the gates of heaven (or whatever you believe), and the receptionist is all like "So how did you die?". And you are like, "I jumped out the window when I thought I was dreaming."
My dream stats:

1 LD a week.
Currently trying MILD.
Lucid Training time: 6 months.
Lucid Age: 2 months.

Thats like walking in to your room, trying to turn the lights on and because they don't work jumping out a window or going on a joy ride. then you fall a few stories and break all the bones in your body or hit some rich persons Ferrari. rhyming skillz!
