      To elaborate

Direction: The place and situation you end up in when entering and changing dream environments.

Content: Everything within the dream environment, IE objects, characters, abilities.

This poll is in regards to your view of how the lucid realm works, even if you haven't achieved it yet, so please choose based on your philosophy and not your current abilities.

Well, I never actually attempted to change my dream. But upon realizing that I could consciously control my own self, I would begin doing things like flying through the air. To actually change the environment and the people themselves would seem much more difficult. They truly do seem like people within themselves --their own thinking and motives.

I'm able to control everything, but I intentionally chose to not control so much and run along with what's happening. It gets the most fun that way in my opinion.

Other. I can usually control things to a certain extent, however I find that it is like trying to control a top. I'll give it a nudge and it will do what I want for a little while before heading off in a new direction.

I don't often try for control though. I enjoy going with the flow, looking around, and enjoying the adventure!

I agree 100%, having complete control is no fun, there no adventure. Why do anything at all if everything happening is because of you? Thats why i find it more fun just to control your self that way you get the pleasure of working around the obsticles that your dream throughs at you
      dont

I believe its possible to get nearly full control, but as others have said it may be more beneficial to go with what your given. Its all about practice, when i first tried to fly in lucid dreams i failed more then i succeeded, now i dont have a problem. Given enough time I think you realise more and more of your potential and gain more and more control.

I wish there was another option i could vote because the dreamscape to me is my mind, i have control but i like to let my mind do the work, i don't dominate full control either, i like to sort of keep a relationship with my sub-conscious mind, like a friendship, we share things to each other. Having complete control is like bullying your sub-consciouss mind, its only bullying if you find that DC keep telling you your awake in the dream and try o stop you from becoming lucid. I'm building a relationship so that i can get the best possible results

I suppose its been enough time to state the purpose of this poll.

I started this with the notion that the vast majority use the lucid realm as a masturbatory tool, and i dont necessarily mean that in a sexual context. Though 19 people is an awfully small pool to glean any info from, its proof enough that my hypothesis was correct.

A few people got my basic premise correct: When you control everything about your environment then it is no more than an infinite realm limited by your finite mind, and in the end you lock yourself in a box. Its quite a self-deceptive mindset to believe that you control everything in such a place that is so far beyond the scope of the common man. Either way, such a valuable place is wasted on those who think they are above it and on those who cannot find their way out without it.

I agree, controlling everything sucks, its more work than play, its easier to just set the situation then worry about what you do, I mean if something goes totally wrong Im going to fix it, (for example the house bursts into flames, i will just make it like that never happened) playing god is no fun, but its pretty cool to play jesus
