Tattoo on my hand - RC?

I've been thinking about getting a tattoo on the back side of my hand - just simple text.

And coincidentally, I strolled in the Lucid dream scene - if I were to look at a text tattoo every hour, would that be a reliable reality check?

What I mean is, in dreams would tattoos (keep in mind I'm planning on just getting text) change at all when I look away and back at my hand?

      Do everything you can.

View the text on your hand at every top of the hour to set a pattern with your internal clock, and maybe randomly when you feel like it. Then also do nose checks and such if you want. Just more chances to LD. It should aid you, yes. The text will change if you look away, if it hasnt already made you Lucid.

You shouldn't. You might regret it someday.
Currently practicing WILD. I quote Kaniaz who said it best: "The point of WILD is to piss me off". Though, I have not given up, far from it.

When you first get it it will work, but once your mind gets used to it it will start to appear in your dreams. I have a Murcury foot on my leg that I checked out once in a dream and it was there.

I wore a silver ring on my finger for many years untill it broke recently. I used to use this for the same purpose. Go for it.

HEY! That's easier and classier. With your ring, did you find that looking at your hand a lot was sufficient in itself to cause lucid dreams - or did you have to do other reality checks too?

      thanks for the suggestions everybody

Couldn't your brain eventually get used to something like this? For example, if you lose a finger in some freak buzzsaw accident, after a few years don't you think that your brain will catch on?

Basically what I'm saying is that your brain will eventually record that as part of your body and therefore keep in constant in a dream. It's really hard to say, but I would probably do some research on any experiments on it. You don't want to get a tatoo for reality checking and then have it become useless after five or six years.

In my dreams the ring wasn't often there, which was a good RC in itself but I mostly just used it to do random RC's by every time I noticed the ring or its absence I would do a reality check. I did consider having a tattoo on the back of my hand but wondered how long it would take to make it onto my dream hand. I recently had a LD where I was in my house, I noticed that all the recent home improvements I'd done weren't there

A detailed ring would suffice, be sure to obsess over which finger it is on, that way you will be sure to count your fingers when it appears to be confusing.
