      Re-start my Dream Journal?

Hey, i quit my dream journal for the exams and my recal began to suck about 2-3 months back, but over the past two nights i've remembered 3 vivid dreams on both nights, fairly long ones aswell with lots of detail and i'm quite eager to start it again, but my exams are not over yet and i got about 8-10 over the next two-three weeks, what do you think i should do?

I think dream journals are great. Re-reading them afterwords helps me figure out what should be dream signs.

      Only for kids?

I am only just starting a journal but cannot remember if I dream at all. Maybe I don't sleep long or often enough. Just as a matter of interest a friend of mine wonders if lucid dreamng is only attainable by young kids or adults. Does it matter how old you are and does your age affect your ability to lucid dream?

I think that anything recorded in your DJ has the potential to be valuable - so why not record it? Don't think of it so much as a "re-start" as a continuation.

I started a DJ about 5 months ago and the only reason why is because funny things have been apearing in my dreams and yes i do have a good memory but not that good to remember every little detail so ya i think that they are a good idea especially if you have only just started LDing

Age doesn't affect it, anyone can lucid dream, it's just hard for some people to do it for a first time and harder when you're on a dreaming dry spell in general. Some actually say that lucid dreaming becomes easier as you age.

Lucid_seeker, I don't think that you should restart your dream journal, rather, if you feel like you want a clean slate why don't you move all your previous entries off DV and onto a blog or somewhere on your computer? [I've actually been thinking of doing the same] If you restart it and get rid of the old ones then you can't look back and have a good laugh and such. Anyways, re-reading old dreams is nice and helps with morale because you can see what you've done before.

I like PJ's wording... a "continuation." If you're excited about doing it again, then go for it-- journaling is always a good thing, in my opinion. If it's the exams paired with the dream journal I wouldn't worry about it- write down what you have time for, what you think is important-- and then if exams get to be too much, adjust to what you think is best. I had a period of about three months where I wrote down dreams maybe... once a week, once every two weeks-- but I didn't really think of it as stopping and starting over every time. It was just... less than usual.

just to back that point up i started at fairly young age and i found it so easy it was unreal and now it has become apart of me as with out i don't no what i wud be. But recording dreams is the best way to get better at lucid dreaming as a friend of mine started about a year ago and he used a DJ to help him and he eventually found out were he was going wrong and bam he was lucid dreaming and he has been since.

Why did you quit it for exams? I find that it doesn't take that much time to record dreams

I like to spend time writing down details and things i experienced in the dream, emotions and stuff, it takes me about an hour and a half to write down my dreams.

Thanks for all the replies, Lucidbulbs i think i'll take your advice, though i don't see my past attempts as complete failure, starting again after my exams with a new journal would feel like i can put all these failures i've previously had behind me and start new, maybe with some better luck. Thanks for all the advice guys, much appreciated!

I'm having my exams these days, and I have lots of spare time. I haven't studied for any of my exams, and I've done pretty good. Getting normal amount of sleep, my recall has actually gone up

I say start on your dream-journal again.

      ---------
Lost count of how many lucid dreams I've had

Your so lucky to do well an not have to study much, i just don't pay attention throughout the school year and then wonder why i don't understand the questions in an exam, i'm making sure i do well in these exams, then its college which i will pay attention in
