I can't ever fall asleep with music on. So, I guess I can't answer that question.

Depends on the person I suppose. Some people sleep too deeply, some too lightly.
I used to have a clock radio that came on in the mornings (during REM) - and it gave me some great dreams. I wasnt doing LD at the time. Some of my natural (unintentional) LD's came from about that time.

Hmm... maybe I should try that again....

It really depends on which music makes you more relaxed. I use some for meditation and before sleep...

Heya, I tend to sleep with music on every night. Its never anything extreme. Some instrumental bands like Mono or Explosions In The Sky. They create great soundscapes. x (btw Im new here, so if anyone could give me tips on anything I would appreciated it greatly =)

I remember once listening to Tool. I had it playing through some headphones before I went to bed. I fell asleep listening to it. I woke up, but wasn't really awake, i couldn't feel my body, but I could hear the music. I didn't know what it was, but it felt nice =) x

I require no music, but a bit of 'white noise'. My computer with it's neverending humming is an excellent sound (multi functional computer! Crashes and hums!)

It really depends on what music you are listining to for me soft music is good not rock'n'roll or metal just something soft.

I sleep with a lot of ambient sounds on my radio, but I believe they do not help with dream recall. I put in music/ sounds with extremely low bass and extremely high violin and other sounds that reach those pitches. I believe this may help with lucidity and dream detail.

However, I am also a metalhead, so I sleep with metal every-now-and-again. Everyone has stated not to sleep to metal, but I believe it depends on the band. Personally, I have found metal to enhance how vivid my dreams are, and my ability to see and feel the details in my dreams.

This is about all I can help with off hand.

I used to go to sleep all the time listening to music -usually classical or ambient. In years past I also used to go to sleep to anything from alternative (cure, dm, Siouxie) to classic rock, metal, techno, and blues (no rap, no country please). Now I find it more distracting than anything else. Even when I do fall asleep to music I find that it seems to recede and then fade completely (or nearly so) as a I fall asleep -even while falling into lucid sleep. When I wake up to music, it seems to fade back in, like when someone slowly raises the volume. Now I occasionally listen to it at low volumes while falling asleep -but only after having disturbing dreams/nightmares (to keep the boogey-man away).
