      Lucid Meditation - Try it!

Here's a concept I've come up with just this morning: meditate, but do it as if it was a lucid dream. It worked, in a very odd and disturbing way. Tell me what you think of this idea and if anyone else would be willing to try it themselves.

I did it this morning and if you're interrested I wrote down what happened to me when I decided to take my meditation to the extra step of remaining in the realm of the subconscience, yet pushing it's bounderies. I won't hide anything, I do have issues and my heart's actually broken, which you'll probably be able to see, but think of how it would have been for you. Anyways, here it is for those that are interrested to see how my experiment went. It's very long, but starting from "part 2" things get very very strange. I'm not asking anyone to believe what I'm saying, but at least to try it and see for themselves where it takes you.

      --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This morning I decided to meditate in the warm comfort of my bed instead of actually getting up. Understand that I had my right arm across my stomach and my left hand on my right arm (it's actually something important).

      Part 1: Normal meditation:

When I started at the "starting point", I found myself in a dence forest. I looked around, seeking a path and found none when all of a sudden the trees, all in a straight line, began to tumble down to form a sort of tree pathway for me to follow. I started walking and remembered that I was told to observe what the forest looked like. There was nothing in particular. It seemed like your average Canadian forest. Dence and plentiful. However the trees that fell at my feet were huge and when I looked down at them they were human legs. I looked around, horrified and looked back down. They were dead fish. Blinked, and they were trees again. So I walked on, horrified to find that my path was made up of dead things. I soon came to what looked like a clearing, but no, it was a pool of mudd. Not quicksand, just mudd. I wadded through it. When I got to the other side, the path of dead trees was there waiting for me, leading me to the clearing where I was to see my power animal.
When I got to the clearing my "power animal" came to see me. I asked him what would happen if I walked through the forest instead of taking another path and walking and talking with him.

Part 2: Taking control of the meditativ state:

The lizard, my "power animal", told me not to go through the forest. I ran and ran and he yeld at me to come back. I was deep into the forest when I hit an invisible wall. I backed up and saw that it was a larg tree, about the size of an apartment building, layed out across the forest and another tree over it. Remember when I stated that I had my arm across my stomach? My arm and hand was that tree. That's when I really realized that the physical, conscience and subconscience realm were all as one in this odd place. So I ran back, but soon found a small hole in the ground. I figured I could go "deeper" into myself. I found a cave, with pairs large planks of wood arching up the round walls and meeting each other's tips at the height of the ceiling. I heard a distant "thud, thud, thud" and ran to it. I realized that it was my ribs and soon found my heart. Now, as you probably all know, dreams are very symbolical and so is meditation. So when I climbed up to my heart I found that there was a crack in it from which puss was excreted. Letters came out of this puss. K, E, L, S...it was the name of the my ex. Kelsey. I started to panick and then...

      Part 3: The head:

All of a sudden I found myself in the clearing where I was "supposed" to be and my "power animal" was now a giant lizard instead of a small one. He was furious. I demanded to see the "core" of the mind for myself and he refused. So I ran back into the forest, but this time, in the opposite direction, towards my head. When I got to where my brain should be I found an enormous 1/2 sphere filled with darkness, like a giant abyss. I gathered my courage and jumped in. I slid down to the center and found a silver-like orb. I thought I had found "the core". Then the silver sphere shifted shape and became a pod, kind of like those of the vampire offspring in the movie Van Helsing, but instead it was made of material with zippers on it. I unzipped it and a naked woman fell out. I was afraid, I thought I had killed her or something. She said something like "No, this is not the core...this is the pod of understanding". As I helped her back into her pod I started to realize that all my personality assets had a "pod" with a person inside. So I looked around and found the pod of "logic" figuring that I could improve it. When I finally found it's pod, I soon came to see that it's pod was made of steal. So I looked around for something and found a kind of embellical cord. I pulled a knife from my pocket and cut it. Biological juice spilled out.
In the "real" world the phone rang. I knew it was for me, no one calls in the morning except my friends. In a hurry I fixed the "embellical cord" and made sure it was ok.

My brother came to the door with the cordless phone.

      ~the end~

Not quite a wonderful tale, but like I said, it was an experiment.

that's crazy that you should mention this. i tried something similar this morning. while it wasn't nearly as epic it was interesting.

i woke up at about 10 this morning and a weird thought crossed my mind, i decided to try and meditate because i was immediately engulfed in HI when i closed my eyes. i just rested and started seeing a forest. it was a cold forest, there was no green. all i could see were the trunks of the trees. i could see my own breath periodically. i started walking through the forest with my head cocked back a little so i couldn't see the forest floor. i could feel the cold ground touching my feet with every step. i hit my knee on what i thought was a rock. i push my head down and it flops forward (like my neck was broken). it wasn't a rock but a fountain. it was about 6 feet in diameter and it was very aged. the water in the fountain was stagnant but not filthy. there were leaves and twigs in the water. i could see the tops of the trees off of the reflection but i couldn't see my reflection. i kept looking but to no avail. this made me really sad. then i saw a ripple in the water. at first i thought it was a tear. i tried to touch my face to see if i was crying but i couldn't control my hand... it felt like i was drunk. my head then fell onto my shoulder, the neck still limp. this is where i felt over burdened... i collapsed next to the fountain with my eyes wide open and looking up through the spider web of trees. i saw rain clouds gathering. they were a dead grey and i felt indifferent to them. i stopped caring. this is where i slipped into a lucid dream. freaky no?

it was relatively short, i never encountered any animals... it was just eerie.

mine seemed very crisp... i'll try again tomorrow and see if i can reach it again. it didn't feel like a dream at all though, i don't know how to describe it. i went right into an LD after it and it was like two worlds -- it didn't take me long because i 'woke up' in the middle of an rem then i just closed my eyes but stayed conscious.

Lord of the Flies, I must say that is amazing!!! To have such a talent for meditation. Does it always happen like this for you? Where you see images and such.

Was that the first time that had happened for you adidas?

I personally have a hard time visualizing thing but then again I am not as practiced as I should be in meditation. The one time I did experience something like this was right after I had a mud bath... Yeah I know sounds silly but I was so relaxed yet so vitalized that I was able to visualize a very beautiful place and I felt I was there. I do believe I would have gone into a WILD or LD if I had had more time. Anyway It was very awesome... and both of yours were very interesting to read.

Let us know how other attempts turn out and I would be very interested to know your techniques to get into your meditative state... everyone is different and I’m curious.

Yeah, but that's because of the technique I use.

Well, first you have to go through an annoying...about...10-20 minutes of relaxing every muscle in your body and then you're good to go.

Lord of the Flies, I must say that is amazing!!! To have such a talent for meditation. Does it always happen like this for you? Where you see images and such.[/b]
It does actually, but because of the technique I use. I've only ever meditated two or three times. I'll tell you guys what happens and everything as long as things don't get too personal for me (I've got my own share of problems).

Anyways, I think I've answered all the questions and requests, so for the last one I'll quote the e-mail my dear friend (and ex, who's name appeared in the crack of my heart) sent me about meditation.

      *NOTE*
Here's something important that she told me when I told her about my lucid dreaming idea:
You are in your mind, and you ask your inner wisdom questions and everything. You let your mind go and tell you your answers. It's meant to better understand yourself and your mind, so controlling it only shows you what you want to see etc etc.[/b]
It's actually very logical if you think about it and perhaps what I saw was something I was subsonsciencely hoping to see before I started. That theory wouldn't suprise me. Anyways, here's the goods, enjoy:

This is how I used to do it, I hope it works for you. (Works if someone is reading to you the way I wrote it. Once you get the idea you're set)

Part 1: Relax your entire body
First you get yourself in a comfortable position. You can either be lying down or sitting. If you are sitting have you foot flat on the ground, your back straight, and your hand resting gently on your lap or on a desk. Close your eyes.
Relax your feet. Feel the stress and tension come of of your toes. They are relaxed.
Now your ankles. Relax them completely.
Feel the muscles in your calves relax and the tension leaving them.
Do the same for your thighs. You are completely relaxed.
Relax your pelvis and your hips.
You can feel the tension run through your spine and through your body to leave out of your fingertips, toes, or hair. Your spine is loose and your whole midsection is quiet.
The muscles in your shoulders, arm and neck are at ease and all stress and unpleasentries are leaving them.
Your forearms and limp and you feel the \"bad\" energy rushing out your fingertips.
Now finally your mind. relax your mind. DOn't think about anything else but relaxing. The outside world does not concern you. Let anything else become only muted voices. When your mind is finally calmed down, you can begin.

      Part 2: meditation
Now that your mind is calm, imagine yourself walking down a path. What does the path look like? What is around you? What do you feel? If there is an animal, it is your power animal. It represents you.
You finally reach a clearing. What type of clearing is it? Are you in a feild, a park, clearing in the forest? You stand there and examine it. Try to feel the breeze, the warmth and cold of this place. Study everyting and feel at peace.
You arrive at your sacred place. You feel comfortable here: safe. You analize this area. If you have a power animal they are with you. You sit down and concentrate. You try and connect with your \"inner wisdom\". This could take a while, but you will feel it.

      *Optional*
While in your sacred place, ask your inner wisdom a question. Anything. then wait for an answer. It doesn't always come to you so if nothing happens it is natural. Your mind is at peace.

Yeah, I hope that helps you. I know it sounds EXTREMELY cheesy, but hey, whatever works.[/b]

This sounds pretty interesting, for a couple of times while meditating I have felt like it could perhaps evolve into a LD. I will have to try this techinique. Thanks for the method LOTF...
