      Delusions....Insanity?

Hello, As you can tell by my post count I have not been very active on the forums recently. I joined recently to try out this lucid dreaming and started to keep a dream journal. Well only days ago I had my first lucid dream, it was during a nap and was only short. Well the dream was very uneventful, the first thing I learnt was to keep calm so I did not want to get excited and lose the lucidity. Well recently I fear that I have been going insane or delusional. I have been acting strangely. I seem to be have delusions of lycanthropy. I decided to look up on the condition and found that it is the blue moon for the next couple days. Anyways I think this can be related to my lucid dream due to the fact that my delusions started right after my first lucid. So what should I do?

Ever used a hallucinogenic drug? LCD and THC (active drug in marijuana) can both stay in your spinal column for months or years and get released randomly, resulting in hallucinations and I guess even delusions of turning into an animal.

I doubt that it has anything to do with your lucid dream, it's probably just a coincidence.

You're probably not insane, insane people don't know that they are insane. See a psychologist, they'll be able to diagnose you better than any of us.

I think you're not going to turn into a werewolf so don't worry.

Well, that is not true. Take people with phobia's they know it is not normal or sane to fear buttons or dogs, however that does not stop the fear. Knowing you're insane doesn't stop the insanity. Espically when you become obessive over it.

      Full moon, surely :-).

      1) Request that this thread moves to "Help"; it may or may not be related to LDs but IMO it qualifies as a request for serious help. Also under Help, anyone who makes fun of you will get treated as they deserve to :-).

If you want an answer, other than "lucid dreaming is great it can't possibly be to blame", general reassurance and reccommendations of professional help...
      2) This is pretty unusual condition (right?), so unless there's someone here who already knows about it, you could help us help you, say a bit more about what you found out (links if online) and how you feel.

If you are worried about how people might react, I'd point you to another thread where a long time member was convinced they were being followed by a shadow person.

yeah its a side effect of lucid dreaming... each guy has his own shape shift though. i for example turn into a cat. so dont worry you aren't going insane.

... seriosuly though, i never heard of LDs causing illusions before.

Yes and don't get stoned or drunk for a while... Ask for some mild anti paranoia/psychotic drugs to help you through it. The effect is temporary. When I came out of my first adult lucid dream after many years of seemingly dreamless nights, my mind was going to all kinds of scary/dangerous places.

Stay away from anyone/anything that may re-enforce any craziness and don't go online doing some research on all kinds of crazy things either. LD included. You are in a state where your mind is in a very suggestible condition right now. Crazy ideas could do a lot of damage. Go back to the simple reality of living like a human being. Lay off video games and emo music too.

Eat sleep and shit man, the rest is irrelevant. Find a hobby to keep your mind busy with simple things to stop it from drifting to the unknown/impossible. Now is a good time to try out what you had trouble learning like math or a musical instrument. Just something benevolent your mind can play with without bringing you over the edge.

      Take care
