Question Is this the start of wild?

Before I even heard about lucid dreaming, sometimes when going to bed and I'd be lying there I would feel like I was falling into some sort of pit like spinning. Thats the only way I can describe it. It happened several times, but the thing is I always get scared with the feeling, and wake up. Is this the Wild technique?

Yes, that is a common sensation while trying to WILD. You just have to wait through the feeling until you see images and 3-d scenes start to form, then try to "step into" the images. Then you're in a LD.

Just remember, you can't get hurt, and the fact that you can do that naturally is great! It should really help with your LDing.

Yeah, like webmaster said, this is a common indicator of sleep paralysis and that the LD is approaching.

I used to always get this feeling long before attempting to WILD or to have an LD intentionally, and I'd usually feel it as I was going to sleep and all of a sudden I would be "jolted" awake and felt as though I was "falling off" the bed or something. It's all normal. You're getting close to having a successful WILD.

Totally close to LDing when you get that feeling. I bet if you ride it out you'll land smack dab in the middle of a lucid dream.

Wow. Well that's good to know, I've had that sensation almost every night since I was a kid. Except it's been more of a sinking feeling, not really falling, for me at least. I always just went with it though, and fell asleep, but now that I know, I think I could pull off WILDing pretty soon.

      Hi there.

I've lucidly dreamed since i was little, and have had many experiances,
But today is the first time i have actually read about the types of lucid dreaming. And also a first for one of these forum things....lol

Whilst reading about this wild type of LD, it reminded me of a few instances that i think i may have been doing it.

It was an all natural thing, i wasn't trying to do it.

I was lying in my bed, falling asleep. Then suddenly i got that tingling sensation, and complete paralasys, i literally could not move...at all, but i was awake but with my eyes closed. Only difference with this, is the fact that i felt someone in the room with me, but not some "normal" person, it was a really ominous presence that i felt...almost lunging at me. I struggled to wake up, and when i did, i was pretty shaken up.

That happened a few times in a week...

sorry for the long post btw.

      Peace

I've had that exact experience. Falling, then suddenly I felt like I had been hit by a truck, and jolted awake. Damn thats frustrating. I felt so close!

Skibbaz - the evil presence is also a common feeling. I haven't had it, though. btw, I love the avatar!

That feeling of getting hit is called Exploding Head Syndrome

I would oftentimes get that feeling when I fell asleep at my desk in school. As I'd start to drift off, dreams/images would appear. I would see something about to hit me, and then I'd jolt up and inhale sharply in panic. It rarely ever happens when I'm in a more relaxed position in bed.

      That's a comforting name
I figured as such, that it was hynogogic. Still terrifying though.

I'm pretty sure the evil presence is felt BECAUSE you're paralyzed... I mean, you're paralyzed, so you can't do anything about it, so that's when you'd be most afraid of it. Your SC screwing around with you...

Theory: Hynagogic stuff is in your mind... maybe you can alter it a little. The evil presence is only the evil monkey

      WILD = Wake-initiated lucid dream.

To perform: you go to sleep normally, and if you follow a bunch of directions closely, you will find yourself transitioning from being awake, to going directly into a (lucid) dream. You will never break consciousness doing a WILD. There are tutorials here to show you exactly how to perform WILD.
