      Intimidated by Sleep Paralysis

Hey guys, Im really interested about Lucid dreaming and i want to do it myself. The only problem is that Im scared from all the stories i hear about sleep paralysis.

Some people says its scary, and other people do sleep paralysis like its a normal routine.

Does anyone have any advice how I can overcome this fear?

      Thanks

Since you will most likely not be ready or ever be ready when sleep parylysis comes about I don't think you could really practice enough to overcome the fear. And in my experience it doesn't happen very often. But when you do experience SP at least you will know what it is.

You shouldn't be scared of SP. You've been doing it all your life. Everytime you go to sleep your body goes through sleep paralysis, it's just when you WILD you do it whilst you're still awake. There's not much to fear either, most people don't feel any fear at all.

Yes it is very true that you have been doing SP since you were born the difference is you being aware that you are SP'ed or not. You being aware is what usually causes the problems. And yes you are quite right the experience differs from person to person.

Some people may be totally fine, some people may look forward to the experience, some may think "If it happens, it happens", and some may terrified to the experience that may come.

In the end what creates the fear of SP is the individual him/herself.

      Wink

what are you afraid of when you are in SP? if its the fact that you cant control yourself, remember that there is no one that has died from it/been possesed by it/never woken up from it. Once your in SP remind yourself that its only temporary.

if your afraid of the feeling or dislike the feeling, close your eyes if you can (or keep them closed if they were origianlly) and try imagaining your favorite song playing. sometimes you will hear parts of the song that you've neevr heard of before and its really cool! OR if you cant, try concentrating on a feeling that you do like form SP, maybe the feeling of being in two places at once, or feeling light as air or the vibrations. or concentrate on a worldy feeling, like... sex, or happiness.

Next time, remind yourself thats its temporary and just explore.

Sleep paraysis is a joke. I find it relaxing. I get that sleep paralysis where I feel a presence around me and im scared to go to sleep with it there but all I do is lie there and let the fear pass.

A good way to fall push yourself into sleep when your paralysed I find is to visualize your face caving in. To wake up keep trying to move your shoulders until u do.

SP can catch you off guard but once you're familiar with it then it becomes easier to tolerate/use. The first time I got SP, that I remember, I thought I was being either possessed or abducted and it scared the living shit outta me

And remember you may not get it at all. I've been having lucid dreams for years now, and have done WILDS in the past but never gotten SP. Kind of wish i would just to see what all the fuss is about.

There are ways to become lucid without experiencing SP.

If the thought scares you (like it does me) i dont think youll LD because you will always be too scared of SP. So if it isnt for you, then try the RC method.

You wont experience LD with that and its a good way to get started.

ive never had SP before, but is it possible to be prepared for every symptom like evil presence, loud noise, weight on chest, paralyzed, hearing footsteps, hard to breathe, vibrations etc.

So that when it happens your totally prepared for all things that happen so that you dont panic

SP takes place most often when attempting to WILD since SP occurs on the bridge between waking and sleeping.

There are techniques (for example DILD) that you can do that do not involve sleep paralysis.

Please review the tutorials found here and pick out a technique that is best suited for you:
