My strange friend

I have a friend who says that pretty much every dream he has is lucid. I dont think hes making it up; ive been through it enough times with him. He doesnt really know about lucid dreams though, and he never uses the dreams to do cool stuff, he just goes along with the dream. I dont get why, and when i suggested to him that he use his amazing lucid ability to make the most of the dream, he told me that if he ever tries to act outside the plot of the dream, he instantly wakes up. It all seems very strange to me. Im sure most people here would give almost anything to have 100% lucidity, and his is totally wasted.

Are you sure he is having a Lucid Dream? If he was having a Lucid Dream then he should be able to do something. The fact that when he tries to do something he wakes up doesn't really make it out to be a Lucid Dream. Although he could be Lucid and just go along with the plot that is laid out before, but that would make him not a very "good" Lucid Dreamer.

I am the only LDer in my group of friends (most of them dont think its worth it, u can tell none have fully exp. a LD) but when i talk to them about it (because they are still interested in what I do in mine for some reason) i have found that a few of them have had dreams like you have described scarpazi, i dont think these count as LDs as they cant exercise any really control over the dream without waking up, so its more like a glitch in their dream somehow their mind is still slightly awake during REM, although dont quote me as thats just an opinion from someone who is far from an expert. On another note i have done that sort of thing from time to time, occasionally the weird crap that my mind comes up with is just so much weirder and cooler than anything my concsious mind can come up with so i ride the dream and if i like it: awesome, if not i go fully lucid if i can (i find it hard to DILD) or wake up. I dont think there is anything wrong with riding a dream, but if you are doing it because you cant go fully lucid it is really worth it for your mate to spend some time and prac till he gets it so he can exp. the true awesomeness of LDing. the emperor protects
