I wouldn't say you feel smarter as such. What happens is that you gain access to your tacit knowledge. The creative nature of dreams allow you to tie together ideas that you may not find connections between with your waking, conscious mind. Lucid dreaming bridges the gap between intentional thought and abstract conceptual-ism, often allowing you to be more creative than you otherwise might. |

Hmm I don't feel smarter, perhaps when you go lucid your conciousness makes a connection with your subconciousness (which apparently knows all) next time I LD I'll try to solve a rubix cube or something :p |

Look at it this way: your brain chronicles an unbelievable amount of information. Every image you've ever seen, every scent you've ever smelled, and just about everything you've committed to long term memory is stored in that brain of yours. Even if you don't consciously tap into all that (and lets face it, we can't) when awake, the info is still there. When lucid you are in closer contact with your subconscious and thus have greater access to that pool of information. |

Are you dreaming?
