What do you think?
I've had a couple of similar experiences. In my most recent, I was dreaming that I was with a group of people who were being chased by these evil people who wanted to harm them. However, from my point of view, I was aware that we, as a group, were in a dream, but I was unaware that I, myself was dreaming. In another, I was thinking to myself, "If I were dreaming, then I would do this..." and ended up exerting some control over the dream, but never actually becoming lucid.
It's what I would consider a pre-lucid state, one where I was aware that things were out of the ordinary, but was never actually conscious.
And good luck with your studies! It's good to hear more people are interested in studying dreams, particularly lucid dreams.
