      Dream Fading, Inevitable?

hey all. i was just wondering this as i'm about to goto sleep (and waiting for my first LD! ). my question is, out of all of the different things u can do to keep the dream from fading, do any of those actually work? i mean; out of spinning, looking at ur hands or staring at the ground, etc., do any of these things actually work? from what i've been hearing, it doesn't seen like it (or maybe the people just havn't been trying). but i hear alot about people losing thier dreams quickly. what do u guys and girls think?

There are many things you can do. Everyone method for holding on to a dream works different for different people. What you should do is test all of them out and see what works good for you. The things that have worked well for me are:
-Concentrate - If you feel the dream slipping away work hard to keep it there.
-Keep youself occupied - If you do nothing in you dream and become bored I find that they fade more easily. Try doing something that requires a lot of brainwork.
-Don't die - Most people wake up right before they die or when they die, so don't do anything stupid like shoot yourself.
-Don't close your eyes - When I close my eyes, my dreams almost always fade away. Don't even blink, there is no reasoon to blink because your eyes are aready closed.
-Sleep in - Many times i have had my dream interupted by my alarm clock or the morning sun, so don't set your alarm clock and close your curtains.

Thats all I can think of right now. Also if you're having trouble having an LD change your eating or drinking patterns. Drinking alcohol or eating heavy, greasy, or spicy meals before you go to bed can disrupt your sleeping patterns and make you have numerous dreams in one night. From there you need to find your signals that your are dreaming.

None of them really work for me. I am at the point where I cant stop from waking up anymore. When I first start lucid dream there would be a delay and the dream would slowly fade or get darker before I woke up. Now the dream doesn't fade, I just wake up instantly with no chance to do anything.
