      DC frequency

an interesting topic popped up in chat just now that I think would be quite nice to talk about. We noted how our lucid dreams tend to have less Dream Characters than our regular dreams. Now, I've never really seen this discussed, so it could make for something new and interesting.

Does the same happen with you?

Anyone care to speculate on reasons for this?

      Two ideas:

      • Your dream control may not be powerful enough to "properly" handle complex interactions with DCs, so your head just saves you the effort.
      • You put focus on maintaining and managing lucidity, so other mental processes such as dream character creation and "AI" is ignored.

This happens in my ld's as well there are no where near as much dc's as in my normal dreams, sometimes none at all. It's scary in some of my ld's because it's night (pitch black) and there's no one around, i am are fearing something to come from somewhere and attack me (like in a horror movie)

I'm glad u brought this up because i have been curious about this aswell and cause no one else had said anything about this i thought it was just me.

All of my dreams have tons of people, lucid or not. And they're always totally intelligent, and if they're people I know, they act exactly the same.

What? My Lucid's have tons and tons and tons of DC's in them. It's the Low Level Lucid ones that seem to be lacking DC's in them.

1000 how dare you lower my post count by 2 and make me come back!

I seem to have little to no DCs in lucids, compared to the tons I usually get in regular dreams. It's quite funny actually for me to see the shift between a regular dream and a lucid one, it's like everything goes quiet and comes into focus. As for the brain not being able to process all the information required to create DCs in a lucid dream, I think that our subconscious requires little effort to create and animate DCs. If it can do it in our regular dreams, then why not in our lucid dreams? I don't think that the frequency of DCs is influenced by our dream control, because their actions are out of our control (well until we decide to mess with them that is). I think it has to do more with the fact that our subconscious follows our newly activated conscious mind and becomes somewhat "tamed". I hope this makes sense to somebody :p...
