      Differentiating between dreams and thoughts?

      I know it's best to wake up at intervals throughout the night and record your dreams on paper so you are sure of them, but I am in college and I need my sleep so I wait until the morning. The problem is that sometimes the morning comes and I remember something, but I am not entirely sure if it was a dream or if it was my conscious mind contemplating. The more I think about it it probably was a dream.

      An example was last night: I recalled imagining a fictitious conversation with my brother where I told him that I don't drink much anymore (something I plan to start doing) and he said he doesn't either. Yeah, boring dream, but I think it tells me I'm making the right decision to cut back on drinking. Anyways, this is the type of basic recollection that seems almost too boring to have been a dream, but to have just been my mind wandering instead.

      Thoughts?

      Hi =) Firstly, welcome

      Hmmm well... actually... I am the wrong guy to be trying to answer this, the lines between my dreams and this place are way too thin, consious thoughts, dreams... its all the same to me =/
      It could very well have been either, boring dreams that not too much happens arent all that rare, and you could have been daydreaming just before you slipped off into unconsiousness.

      If your having a problem having boring dreams, all you need to do is tell your self in your mind before you go to be "I will have intresting drreams tonight". Not only will you have intrsting dreams, you will rember them alot easiar. I used to have boring dreams, till some 1 told me how to fix that, cant rember who though....

      dont get discouraged, you will get it, the fact that you have good dream recall and are able to implant such an idea as having interesting dreams means you are on your way.

      The lucid expert thing is correlated to how many posts you have...
      *kicks a rock*least your lucid something... im just a moderator now

      Thanks for staying on topic guys

      Anyways, I once again can't remember if it was a dream or not this morning, but I am going to record them in my journal because they must be products of my sub-conscience since I don't think that imaginatively when I'm completely awake.

      What I did once was buy a digital tape recorder and if I wake up at night I can just speak into it with my dream, even fragments of it, so I don't have to turn on the light and completely wake up. Get one, it pays dividends!

      Yes a tape recored could work

      I must try in the days to come

      but the only problem could be that you dont wake up enough and so dont fully do much recalling. The act of waking a bit and writing is to remember.

      I might be wrong whos to say

      Do you recall your dream imagry or thaughts when you later listen to your tape?
