Question What are these "Vibrations" everyone is talking about?

I hear the term Vibrations a lot but everyone seems to know what this means but me. There is nothing on the main page about this either.

Also does trying to lucid dream "open doors" to spirits, etc? I also hear this "hag" mentioned by practically everyone and I'm not too interested in meeting it!

      Any info is appreciated thanks

These vibrations you speak of is your body going into SP (sleep paralysis). Usually you don't feel it when falling asleep normally, but when doing a WILD (wake induced lucid dream), it's one of the phases that you go through before fully entering the dream.

Lucid dreaming does not open doors to spirits. There are some opinions about OOB (out of body experience) and mystical related theories. You shouldn't be worried though. If you look at it from a scientific point of view, dreams are nothing but products of your imagination.

The vibrations and the feeling that happens when you're slipping into SP can be a bit frightening, but it's all a product of your mind. Also, if you simply attempt to DILD (dream induced lucid dream), you don't have to go through the crazy experience that is a WILD... although you should definitely try it someday, since it's said to produce the best and most realistic lucid dreams.

Hope I didn't ramble too much... welcome to Dream Views, have nice dreams, and feel free to ask any questions you may have.

Vibrations are a part of the hypnagogic experiences. Which include visual, tactile, auditory hallucinations. Can be anything or everything from feeling like you're falling through your bed, flying to the left, vibrating, hearing sounds etc.

The old hag has perfectly scientific explanations. I won't start believing in spirits and ghosts just because my mind scared itself.

Perfect explanations! Said 10 times more, using 10 times less words than me.

The vibrations are sensations some people feel when they are trying the WILD technique, or sometimes they happen spontaneously when you are falling asleep or waking up. They are an example ot Hypnagogic Hallucinations, which can include also sounds and visions.
Hypnagogic Hallucinations are hallucinations that you may experience when you are on the border line between being asleep and awake, but not everyone experience them, and each person experience them a little differently: For example not everyone feels vibrations.

About "open doors" to spirits, some people believe that it can, and some don't. I think most people on this forum are scientifically oriented, and they don't believe that. they believe dreams are simply mental experiences that are all in your head.

About the "hag": One of the types of the Hypnagogic Hallucinations that is possible is a feeling of a presence, for some reason often a presence of an evil female entity, and this is the "hag". Not everyone experience that, in fact most people don't, and most people in this forum believe that it's just a hallucination, and not some spirit, and therefor you have nothing to worry about. But even the people that do believe that it's a spirit, weren't harmed by it in any way: At worst it scared them.

So, don't worry, lucid dreaming is very safe, and a lot of fun!

Really, it's a normal part of sleep paralysis. Sometimes, as your body falls asleep, you'll begin to feel sensations like this, along with maybe a floating/falling/tingling sensation.

Not everyone gets it, but I've heard it reported alot, so you probably would get a variation of that, but don't worry, you can still LD without them!
