Whatever works for you... as long as it helps you stay conscious while falling asleep. Step 1 is pretty much essential, because you're close to a quality REM state, as opposed to WILDing when you first go to bed, because even if you succeed in staying conscious to the first REM state, it's less than 10 minutes and low-quality. |

Well technically what you proposed above would work however it may be a better idea to wait about 5-6 hours instead, then your more likely to be right spot on a REM period in which you can enter, however it may not work because you may be too awake by then, 4 hours should be fine as long as you can remain consciouss whilst falling asleep, my advice to you is not to rely on an alarm clock to do the work for you because it will wake you up too much, its best to try and wake naturally because you can easily get back to sleep. |
