      over anxious noob

I go to school full time, work full time and try to keep an active social life as well as spend time online and whatnot. This cuts my sleeping peroid down to 6 or less hours a night. I used to sleep 10 easy. Now I can remember my dreams mostly on the weekend according to my dream journal dates. Is there anything to do to help me increase my dream time other then more sleep? I have a brainwave generator which is really neet and helps but the dream peroid is normally 6 hours from falling asleep.

Broken sleep is the most effective way. So if you only have an allocated 6 hours in the night to sleep, you could set your alarm to go off 4 hours into it. Then get up and have a cup of coffee, and wake yourself up. Then go back to sleep for the remaining time you have. This broken sleep pattern will improve your chances of remembering your dreams and having a lucid dream. 8)

Hey man...i feel really sorry for you.

The REM period of sleep is the period in which you dream, and the first one starts about 5 hours into sleep, and then in 90 minute cycles.

I would really reccommend trying to get 8 hours...i know its hard with all the work and school, but damn. How do you operate on 6?

I used to operate at about 2 a night during the week for about the beginning of last school year thru may
I had such messed up sleeping patterns I would go to sleeip and wake up 30 minutes later and not be able to fall asleep for hours...i finally got medicine that allows me to have good sleep, and Im having fun sleeping long amounts of time lol, I slept 16 hours like a week ago

Actually you dream throughout the whole night, and first sleeping cycle starts as soon as you fall asleep. It ends with a short REM period. So you can see dreams 2 hours into sleep.

The big problem with getting only 5-6 hours of sleep each night is:

you stay awake longer, so you are more tired
you dont sleep enough, so you are even more tired

this causes you to black out and wake up next morning without any recall at all..

Some very active peolpe learn how to take effective power. knapps.Knapps when ever you have a brief moment and sleep for about ten minutes, give or take a few. This allows them to be productive on only a few hours of sleep per night. I myself can't slow down enough to fall asleep that quickly. However if you can, maybe this will improve the total amount of sleep you are getting and might increase your dreams.?.?.

Sleeping only 6 hours a day isn't normally healthly.

Yes I know, I would prefer sleeping 8-10 but that would cut into my socal-life, work schedule, class/homework. I am going to try to wake up at 4:30 giving me around 3 and a half hours or so. I hope thats enough. If not I can always become a weekend dreamer.

I am going to be contriversal here. I've had EXTREMLY long LD's and the occasional sleepwalking, within 3 hours of sleeping.. so its not altogether true about REM's occouring later, the ones that are later are longer, but not necessarily as deep

I had LD's after 2 hours of sleep in the past 2 weeks. I dont get much sleep, I go to sleep about 1 - 1.30 and get up at 7.30 in the week. But i can feel it and seriously need to catch up on some!
Lucid at least once a week, mainly on weekends.

Im not sleeping today so I can go to bed tomorrow at 11 like I did before, because now the minimum of falling asleep is 3AM, so I might get a normal sleep pattern again

omg bassaddict stewie is the coolest character in the show lol, I love him rofl, I dunno Brian is cool to but Stewie kicks ass for a baby
