Red face I can control my dreams but theres more..

I've been quite shocked at the amount of people who can control their dreams, I thought I must have been a one off bt clearly not.

When I'm extremely run down or tired I pass into a deep sleep, when this happens I can control my dreams. Years ago my body used to realise I was controlling my dreams and immediately try to awaken me. I'd get a pulling pain in my chest area, as if my body was sucking my soul back into my body. Now I can stay calm, and relax in my dreams.

99% of the time I automatically go hunting for a woman and to get laid basically. I start off running through crowds, being picky looking at different girls, alot of them I cannot see there faces and some are quite plain looking so I keep on running. Then I see someone or I feel like Im running out of time so I hit on a girl and have sex. Sometimes I dont get all the way but sometimes I do (how embarrassing when I awake next to my girlfriend).

      Now the other thing....

In the real world I often get a strong sense of body placement and dejavu. What I mean is for example today I was watching a movie on TV and I saw a man stood over another just off camera, suddenly I had a bodyshock and I could smell the ground and feel what the guy felt at the time it was being recorded. He was trying his best to be upset for the scene but couldnt control his smile. I thought about what I/HE had done earlier in the day and he seemed stress free, but then it went. Normally I get a split second of someones feelings and smell but it was longer today, just need to learn to focus on it.

Another time I was working on my PC when I'd get a bodyshock and smell the stone walls of a castle and a feeling of disbelief, then it went before I could focus on what was happening.

Anyway I will probably sound crazy to you all, but jjust wondering if anyone has any ideas whats happening to me? Could it be my mind using passed dreams to fit the situation?

One last thing regarding dreams. I often cant get my breath whilst sleeping and sometimes cant awaken even though my mind is awake. I have to force my gasp of air and situp. I'm wondering if that could be something similar to cot death, as it takes alot of strength to get a breath?

      Regards,

      CrazyJohn

      Crazy John,

Your 'bodyshocks' sound intriguing. A lot of people in this forum would say 'It's all in your head.', others would tell you that it could be a portion of your awareness projecting to another actual place and time. I say 'Test and verify, or keep your options open.'

Could the breath thing be a form of sleep apnea? Do you carry more than the ideal body weight? Or...you may be having dream apnea. See if a mental command before you go to sleep to 'breathe normally' has any effect.

This last sounds like Sleep Paralysis (SP). Search it. Does that fit? I'm not aware of any physical danger from it, but it can be very scary & feel impossible to breathe.

I don't know about body-shocks. The smell+someone elses thoughts doesn't make a good match with anything I've heard of, medical or paranormal; you score high on my uniqueness scale :-). You did mention deja-vu - one possible cause of deja-vu would be a type of epilepsy, a broadly defined condition which might include your bodyshocks, but I don't know if epilepsy episodes could be that short - you get an instant or so of bodyshock then go back to feeling normal (if a little shaken), right?

Hey you a DJ? Just curious from your name?

Also, I find I can only LD when in light sleep - good job if you can do it in deep sleep

Sorry for the months and months of delays! I lost this site and just found it by luck.

Yeah I'm a DJ, nothing special really, just a few bars now and then. I spent 7 months backpacking around the world to places like Honolulu/Beachcomber-Fiji/Australia so played all over the world.

As for the other questions, I'm not over weight but could do with hitting the gym again!

As for me not being able to get my breathe when I'm asleep, its normally when Im rundown, once my girlfriend had to shake me as she noticed I stopped breathing. Quite mad!

Ive now noticed a pattern on my dream-controlling too. Mainly when I'm rundown or lacking serious sleep its so easy to control and wake up when I like. One dream latelly I was in a huge bar, the snooker table was 10times bigger than normal and this huge bouncer type fella started giving me grief from across the room (no dirty jokes please). When he made his way over I woke myself before he could get to me.

I must start diarising these properly.

I mentioned this to my dad, about controlling dreams and I expected him to laugh at me, but he reckons he's been able to do the same since he can remember. Probably all the 60's tripping got lodged in his sperm and bang I'm here.

De-javu issues I've had lately are getting worse. Normally I have this one where I can smell pond-water...if that makes sense. I went to visit my mates new house and he's got a problem with his pond, all the fish died in the same day, suspected poisoning by some kids but when I got there I had the exact same smell.

Anyway enouogh of me! Im gonna read up on your suggestions above thanks!

Haha. Must be true if you're having flashbacks

When you stop breathing during sleep (and it happens often) you probably want to get checked out. Sleep apnea's pretty serious :-\

Agreed on the sleep apnea. Worth checking out.

I'm sure nothing can match keeping a proper dream journal, but I'm lazy :-). I do my own thing and I think I get some of the same benefits. Maybe diarising is good if you're interested in particular dreams that stand out though.

I try to remember my dreams as I wake up (installing the intention as you go to sleep is obviously useful) and go through them, and the same thing if I wake up during the night.

Even if I think I've successfully remembered them, they can still fade quite easily. When I finally get up, I can remember that I was thinking about dreams, but not what I was actually remembering! So as I recall the dreams, I describe them, as if I was writing, typing, or talking, and it helps stop them fading. I think it helps provide an "anchor" for the dream memories, and they don't get washed away by the tide of wakefullness, or something like that :-).

Most recently, I've tried assigning numbers and titles to the dreams. I think most people will know what I mean by titles; they force you think about the dream and interpret it. Assigning numbers helps keep track, especially if you've got a lot of them; perhaps especially if you do it half way through the night, and then again in the morning.

Cheers guys, if my breathing dissorder happens more regular I will but I'm fairly sure its off partying too much. I remember my dreams when I wake up and then like you say I lodge them straight into my mind, then 2/3 hours later I cant fully remember them.
