Question Becoming joyless about LDing, how to get excited again

I rediscovered lucid dreaming about a month or so ago, and I was absolutely amazed at the concept and intensely excited about experiencing it again. I have had a few lucid dreams over the years but none in quite a while, and until I began researching it recently I had no joy about it. After falling ill with a rather brutal cold, I took to accepting any sleep I could get and just passing out rather than trying to induce lucidity. I was so sick that I even dropped my dream journalling and have stopped having these great conversations about lucid dreaming with people. It's really sad! To think how motivated and happy I was, and now I'm sort of flatlining.

I know this is common in people who have a stretch of failed attempts, but any suggestions for how to get excited again? I don't know, tell me how great it is!!

Maybe it's a matter of seeking out the sites that present it in a mystical and magical way, or reenforce how brilliant it can be. This might be a good thread to drop here, I'm sad for myself to have lost the joy and it'd be good to assure other n00bs that you can get it back!

The DC thread is good. Also the entire Lucid Experiences forum! Just read around in there, about all of the incredibly awesome things that can be done!

How could you become joyless about LDing there is so much to do LOL

      Anything you can imagine

Did you ever have anything that you wanted to do in Real Life that you couldn't do or were too frightened to do - or just want to experience something you always dreamed about doing.

I am sure your joy will come back

It's just my nature to become completely obsessed with something and pour my energy into it until I ultimately get frustrated or drained and back off. But I know intellectually how fantastic LDing is, I don't want it to be another thing to chuck on that very long list. I wish I hadn't gotten so sick, but then again maybe I got sick in the first place because I was obsessing.

I've also been having a stream of really shitty and vague dreams that I can best describe as "furry" which doesn't help.

polmc- Thanks for reminding me about Castaneda, I have been meaning to check out some of his work, from what I've read it seems like just the sort of thing to get me excited.

      Cheers for the suggestions everyone!!

      just think about this:

In an average life of 80 years, we spend about 1/3 of it sleeping. = waste about 27 years!!

There's so much things we yet dont know, and life is so short...

If I were you, try reading Castaneda's books so you can get some fresh air about the whole subject, trust me, even if you think its fictional, they one of the best books, and which have opened my eyes...

      Just my 2 cents!

I have become bored by LDing a lot of times. A good thing to do is sit down and write out all the possibilities.
