Attaining Lucidity at the cost of sleep?

After reading these forums my mind has been in a perpetual awakened state. I cannot stop thinking about if I am sleeping or awake.

I have been awake for the last 48 hrs and I can't fall asleep, I became lucid for around 15 minutes (1 per day) at the expense of 7.5 hrs of sleep. So a total of 15 minutes sleep, I know I was wake because of the horrible nightmares that keep creeping up on me. I tried relaxing techniques, counting, medding, nothing is really working.

I don't know if it's from lack of sleep, but both times my LDs became bombarded with weird things (Like Michael's ugly creepy human body sig), I saw someones chest blast open and all his guts shoot out (Michael did I mention your sig is creepy?)

Anyways, I need help/advice because I can't sleep (because of being overly alert)!...I was 100% conscious all night even through the entire SP event (when it did occur) and ...yea...

I think you're trying much to hard. It's good to keep dreaming on your mind, but not so much that you can't sleep.

Why don't you take a break for a while and quit reading about dreaming. Try to get a few good nights sleep without thinking about it at all. Then start back slowly, maybe just reading a little bit right before you go to sleep. If that keeps you up, try something else.

You don't have to quite trying altogether, but you have to be able to sleep to dream, so you need to get your mind off of it for a little and get some rest.

Indeed it would seem like you are thinking too much about something that should not be thought of too much. If you think of something to the point that it starts to effect your sleeping patterns indeed you should cut pack on thinking about that particular thought. I find if you just let the thoughts come and go not only will you be able to sleep easier, but you may even find yourself having a LD.
