Question More success without reality checks

I have been doing alot of reality checks lately with not much success. I discontinued my reality checks yesterday and just believed that i didn't need to perform them to achieve lucidity and it results in 2 lucid dreams. It seems that when i relax i get alot more lucids, and now when i come to thik about it most of my lucids come spontaneously.

      Your thoughts.

      Hey there,

My first thought is that having a single 'experience' really isn't enough to make a deduction from. To know if you have more succes without reality checks, you'd need to have consistent and persistent succes.

Personally, I think this is just an example of the thing many of us say again and again. It's possible to try to hard, and very often when you're in that situation, lucidity comes exactly at the moment you stop trying and relax. Getting lucid always needs to remain fun, enjoyable and relaxing. Any time it becomes a chore, it becomes something 'you must do', or a source of frustration, you tend to start getting negative results. The very fact that you're trying too hard 'blocks' your ability to get lucid.

Usually then when you let go and 'remove' this negative block, the lucid dreams start again.

      Just my 2 cents,

^^^That definitely could be it. It seems like lots of times I "gave up" on ever having a lucid dream again, and pretty soon after that I'd have one.

I have not stoppedf trying i still go to bed with the intention of becoming lucid, just no reaity checks. This has also happened a few times before when i have stopped reality checks. So this definetely seems to work better for me, probably because when i am doing reality checks i am stressing out about am i taking the reality check seriously enough, am i doing enough reality checks, what if they don't incorparat into my dream etc. But this way i am competely relaxed and i have an ultra confidence that i can have lucids nearly at will because before i could using this approach so why i changed the approach i don't know.

I personally only find Reality Checks to be useful if I am already Lucid and want to double check to make sure I am dreaming. When I am non lucid I never find myself doing any reality checks.

I almost never get lucid with reality checks. In fact I did a reality check while I was lucid that didn't work.

Now you've really confused me. How can you have a reality check "while lucid" that "didn't work". You mean it didn't tell you that you were lucid, but that you were already lucid? Doesn't make sense.

Most of my dreams I already start out Lucid, but I do a reality check just to make sure that I am lucid. For instance if I am about to freefall off of a 500 story building I will do a Nose Reality Check just to double check that I am still in a dream so I don't end up killing myself.

I mean that last night I was questioning whether or not I was still dreaming because I couldn't grab my reflection in the mirror. I looked at my hands and they were crystal clear and wouldn't go through each other either. I couldn't walk into the mirror either. the only way I knew that I was dreaming was the i recalled flying just before.

So that means that you're not sure if you're lucid or not, which means you're not actually lucid. It seems that you get lucid, and then quickly lose it.

That means you weren't lucid at that time.

I was doing a ton of RC's and then stopped after getting frustrated just to have a LD a few nights later, ironically with the help of a RC.
      “The Ninja Covenant”

I will vanish into the night,
change my body to wood or stone.

I will sink deep into the earth,
walk through walls and locked doors.

I will fly like a bird or become a fish and live underwater.

I will be killed many times,
      Yet I will not die.

I can change my face and become invisible,
and I'll walk among you, without being noticed.

I am a Ninja and my way is “Ninjutsu”

Be safe about it. Don't jump out a window, levitate up first and then fly out the window like Peter Pan or Superman.
As you levitate you know it's safe and a dream.
The fact of jumping is the possible trouble spot.
Also if I didn't reality check on my 2nd LD and see my hands with wavy, wobbly fingers, I would probably had a vague normal dream.
