      Second LD, but Very Confused....

Ok so I had my second LD. It was sort of weird though. Like it started out like a dream. I was in class, and there was like a lot of drama going on. The class ended and I walked out. But instead of walking out into the halls of my high school, it was in the halls of my middle school that transformed into my elementary school. I knew then that I was LD'ing so I checked my hand and had six fingers, and so I walked out this door that lead to a lawn. The lawn was huge and had a small bumb/hill in the middle and this pesky tall tree/bush with white flowers. So I made the tree move over the the left side of the lawn. It spun over to the left but wouldn't stay there. So I had to keep making it move. After that I turned back to the door I came out of but instead it was a back yard patio. It was all nice but the bricks on one wall and the ground kept changing colors.

I felt the dream start to slip so I walked over to a bush and felt the leaves and smelled the flowers. Then out of no where a little girl comes runs out of of the back patio door and yells "mom". Now I don't know if it was half dream have LD, but I knew that I was this little girls mom and so I took her in my arms and asked her how school was and what she was doing. I stroked her hair to keep the LD'ingness going and walked her back inside the house. I told her that she needed to do her homework before she watched TV and she said "Yes Mommy." I told her that because this big TV was on. So then I go over and turn it off as I set her down and ask her if she knows why she can't watch TV right now. She says "Yeah." And I tell her to say "Yes". So she does and runs off.

Right then I wake up and try to start recalling my dream. But I fall back asleep and see another woman caring laundry and turn back on the TV; I get mad about this. Then I wake up for good.

Now the reason I'm confused is because I can't tell if its a real LD or not. I know that I knew I was dreaming and that I could manipulate the tree and the dream felt real, but I'm confused on the kid and the wall changing colors and why the tree didn't stay where I told it to. I'm thinking it might be because I just wasn't in a complete LD, but I want some help knowing for sure. Thanks!!!

I think that means that you were lucid, but to a certain extent. Not like super lucid, but mildly lucid.

      That sounds weird, but yeah.

      Hey there,

Remember that lucidity is not an all or nothing thing. There's many levels of lucidity, just like there's many levels of awareness during waking life. In some lucid dreams you might be so conscious you can remember what you had for breakfast the morning before, while in others you might barely even realise you're dreaming, and fail to use this knowledge for anything. There's a lot of variety inbetween.

Some people classify dreams according to their level of consciousness. Again, definitions vary a lot, but so a lucid dream might be a dream in which you can decide what to do and are no longer bound by the theme or the plot of the dream. A semi lucid dream might be a dream where you can chose how to act and react, but still continue to live out the plot or theme of the dream you're in, etc.

That said, any increase in dreamawareness is something to be happy about. Not every lucid dream will be a full blown remember everything be able to do everything lucid dream, but that doesn't matter. As long as you managed to increase your awareness of dreaming, it's a step in the right direction!

      Hope that helps,

      -Redrivertears-

Actually Redrivertears that helps a lot. Not really to what I'm trying to do, but thank you. I am kind of a natural LD'er, I pretty much know when I'm dreaming most of the time, but I'm trying to step it up and control my dreams. But your comments make me feel better and I suppose being more aware is always a good thing. It just sort of made me confused on if what was happening in my dream was a loose LD or not, thank you to both of you for replying. Happy LD'ing to both of you! lol.
