Hey there,
WILD does indeed stand for Wake Induced Lucid Dream.
The difference between a WILD and a DILD (Dream Induced Lucid Dream) is that in a WILD you go directly from being awake to sleeping and dreaming, without ever losing consciousness. So you do not 'become lucid', you simply 'remain lucid', so to speak.
In a DILD, we tend to lose our consciousness first, then regain it, sometimes spontaniously, sometimes due to reality checks or dreamsigns, but there is a point in a DILD where we go 'oh wow, i'm dreaming!'.
This doesn't happen with WILDs, we keep our consciousness, as our body goes to sleep and the dream begins. (the difficulty with WILD is often knowing when the dream has started, when the transition has taken place).
Hope that answers your question,
