      Comfortable Environment

It seems many people have trouble getting to sleep due to their environment. This could be either noise level, lighting level, temperature etc. The easiest way of getting to sleep is to not think about getting to sleep and being comfortable. I used to find it very hard to get to sleep and therefore hard to lucid dream. This is not the case anymore. Recently I went to a pharmacy and picked up some common useful items. Theres no way of getting to sleep and becoming lucid without having a comfortable environment.

Sleeping Mask: Creates a darker environment and makes it easier to visualize your dreamscape.

Earplugs: Makes it quiet no matter what time of day.

Water filled pillow: This can be warm or hot and creates an ideal temperature for sleep.

Last but not least vitamin B6: I just find B6 helps my dreams to be more vivid and improves my recall.

This post was created to help those who have trouble lucid dreaming to do sleep habits. If anyone has anything that helps them get to sleep please post it here.

      Yours truly, Jamal.

All great suggestions! Haven't heard of a water pillow though... I would say that any pillow that is comfortable would do. I would put less emphasis on B6 because some people tend to take it every night which is bad for several reasons. I for one have never needed it and actually haven't had positive results from taking it.

From my experience, a great way to get to sleep in any environment is to get plenty of physical exercise during the day. Plenty of mental exercise, like studying for exams, can do the trick as well.

Jamalkk, I have all of the things you listed except for the water pillow.. I do have a contour pillow that is extremely comfortable and provides good neck support however.

I also find that having warm feet helps me to LD (goes along with being comfortable) so I wear socks to bed if it's chilly. (I know.. really sexy! )
