I don't think music will have an effect. Spend some time thinking about "interesting" things, whether reading in a book about some country you would like to travel to our some character in a book that you would like to be. Of course, if you become lucid you can then create anything!

I would suggest ambient or classical music... or just music that you like or that puts you in a good mood. Any negative music, and you may have bad dreams... just my experience. Music, if played real softly as I fall asleep has helped me achieve the (WILD?) technique -where you enter lucidity immediately upon entering dreamland... To do this, I have focused on the tones or rhythms while also being aware of my body from head to toe, (think of youe toes or wiggle them, then move up your body to the top of your head, and do this back and forth while falling asleep -while still remaining conscious...)

I find music like Vangelis or Andreas Vollenweider help get me into a receptive mood. Whatever works for you is best.
I remember reading somewhere that watching Gumby makes it easier for you to have OBEs. Sad thing was, the author was dead serious about it!

Yeah, reading definatly stores ideas for the subconcious to play with. I know I've had loads of dreams about books I've been reading before I've gone to sleep, it's probably a common thing, i'd definatly suggest it for some interesting and abstract dreams.
